Can anyone beat this O2 contract?
I reckon I might have a claim for the best value O2 contract (not counting those dodgy 'claim your line rental back after 12 months' things) - I'm paying about £8.00 per month at the moment for 500 cross network anytime minutes, and this is how it happened:
1. Called O2 when contract expired, said I wanted to cancel cos wanted to move to the '3' network (a lie, admittedly - I'm not a fan of 3). Was offered a contract of 400 x-net, anytime minutes + 100 texts for £20, which i accepted.
2. They decided that I was offered that deal by mistake, but after an argument they agreed to honour it.
3. The only way they could do it was to put me on the discount 500 tarriff (normally £25) and give me a 20% discount (to make it £20) and then give me a monthly credit for my 100 texts.
4. So I'm being charged £20 per month for 500 minutes, and getting an £11.75 discount each month for my 100 texts - making a total of £8.30!
5. Whats more, if I want to use texts, I can get a 100 text bolt-on for a fiver, making £13.30 for 500 minutes and 100 texts - even better than what they 'mistakenly' offered me earlier!
How stupid are O2??!!

I pay £10 a month to O2 for 600 texts and 50 minutes of talktime a day. Can't remember how I managed to get on this tarrif now as I've been on it for about 4 years. I agree that O2 are a bit dim though and their customer services can be shocking but I tolerate it because there's no way I'd get a better deal from anyone else!I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

I'm on the 600 texts and 50 mins off talk time PER DAY!!! tariff as well. There's no way any other network will beat that for £10.00 per month0

Ah, fond memories of the 600txt / 50mins a day tarrif...
Yes, that tarrif was the old Genie one, available in 2001/02 - the price started at £10, went up to £12.50 then eventually £15 before it was withdrawn to new customers. I had it at £15 (still better value than more recent offerings) for 3 years before cancelling due to not using my phone as much any more.
I'm now spending around £2 a month on Tesco Mobile PAYG :beer:0 -

Is that anytime to any network? cos if so...you win! lol0 -
off peak is ok but still its well worth it for the 18,000 texts a month although there is no way you would be able to use them unless u send a text every 2.5 seconds for 24 hours straight!Nice to Save. To save it's ____0

Nope, it's off peak minutes but I don't make peak rate calls so it suits me.
My brother has an O2 package for a similar price but he gets 500 texts a month, 500 minutes off peak minutes and 100 cross network/anytime minutes a month. Unfortunately, they don't offer this package anymore.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0 -

Sorry, didn't state very clearly in my original post - it's 50 off peak mins per day and 600 texts per month. Wish it was 600 per day though! It's still good value though as I use my phone alot for texting, especially since you can now text landline numbers too.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I think I managed a really good deal after these muppets thought they was gonna take me for a ride. I was paying £45 a month on adverage for 200min anytime and 200 txts but seeing as I wernt really useing a lot of my mins an I was near the end of my contract I decided to can it and goto payg. So when i rang them up and explained the situation they was like err ok well what if i offer you 100 min anytime and 300txts for a tenner a month I said yer sure as long as u chuck me in a nice new shiny phone to like the s700i and volia all sorted.
So I now pay a tenner a month for 100min anytime and 300txts and i got a phone worth £250 odd quid.
I thought that was a preety good deal.0 -

Friend of a friend got 'contract mobile' from them. They are (and have been) on Income Support for god knows how many years! Obviously don't make many credit checks?0
