Know people by their Card...

:rotfl:I use a Halifax CCard to withdraw cash abroad as it's free & good exchange rate - pay off balance day I get home so minimum interest incurred. If anyone British is about I feel very defensive and want to say 'yes I know it's a KNOW I'm withdrawing cash from a CCard but it's ok, and I'm not skint, honest' :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I think you're being a bit paranoid! I've never noticed what card anyone is using in foreign ATMs - let alone being able to recognise the Halifax Clarity card as a credit card. (If you recognise it, you should know it's a Halifax Clarity and is free, if you don't recognise it, how would you know it's a credit card - I assume they aren't peering over to the extent where they are actually reading what's written on the card!).0 -
:rotfl: at Jetplane :rotfl:
It's a picture of a fit young rugby player that I am privildged to know -and yes he does have clothes on
unfortunately they wouldnt accept the one of him with his clothes off which i was a bit gutted about :rotfl: It's caused a stir among a few female bank clerks and shop assistants

I always have a bit of a paranoia fit on the (exceedingly rare) occasions I use credit instead of debit cards. Especially when it's used in a smaller/independent retailer where it isn't blatantly obvious that they accept cards of any type (let alone credit cards), and I have to ask.
My paranoia stems from the fact that I think that the retailer assumes I can't afford to pay via debit card, and am making my purchases on the 'never never'. Cue visions of me doing a £50 shop at Tesco, and repaying it a fiver a month over a year!
I paid for my car insurance in full on a credit card last year (and promptly paid the balance off very quickly, so was charged pennies interest). I cringed all the way through the phonecall.
A silly assumption on my part, but a very real (albeit obviously quite minor) fear of mine!0 -

:rotfl:Yes, I accept I'm being paranoid :rotfl:. Maybe I could get cards printed saying 'Martin says it's ok. And I asked for the transaction in euros, not pounds, cos Martin says to do that too'.

That part wasnt for general Clydesdale accounts, It was just shortened down, like, Clydesdale Private Banking, RBS Private Banking... Accounts that usually need a £50,000-£100,000 opening balance or a sole salary of £75,000 p/a for example.
What do you think of people who pull out a Clydesdale Bank Maestro card?
"Do you take... Maestro?"Oh, you wee bazza!0 -

They still exist, although not for much longer. The only big(gish) bank that issues Maestro any more is Clydesdale/Yorkshire. HSBC Group (including First Direct) and RBS Group (including NatWest) both stopped issuing them in 2009. HBOS stopped issuing them many years ago now. Clydesdale will probably also go to Debit MasterCard before long; the Maestro scheme is essentially being wound down in the UK. The sister Solo scheme closed completely last year.urs sinserly,

I didn't think there were any banks still issuing Maestro cards. We've stopped accepting them where I work, but can honestly say that since Natwest and HSBC stopped issuing them a few years ago, i haven't had anyone try to pay with oneDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0
