The only snobbery bank accounts are private current accounts Cater Allen etc where you actually need to have a few quid in the first place unlike the joey banks listed above where anyone can have an account if your credit report is fine.

I'd probably say Cater Allen is the lowest of the low "Private" Banks. Owned by you know who, and probably the easiest to get into. Minimum £5K deposit.

Should have said.... This isnt aimed at everyone, im not trying to prod everyone with the same stick, just noting people who I mainly see using these cards. Not trying to say there isnt hard working average people with Coutts accounts. Or wealthy families with Electrons.

Ive met friendly people who use Adam & Company cards, and snobs that look down on me like piece sh*t on their shoe with Pre Paid Cards.

I'm not trying to take people down, or pick on certain groups, just my observations.

the woman in front of us was putting in her pin and thought my OH was watching her do it. Que great big 'TUT' and covering up her pin. What a toffy nosed cow.

If I thought someone was watching me whilst dealing with a PIN transaction, I'd probably do the same (give them a stare back and make a point of covering up my input). So should you.

It's polite not to stare at someone whilst they're putting in their security details - whether the person looking is trying something dodgy (rarely) or just being a bit annoying (more likely).

Good security precautions don't make someone a "toffy nosed cow". ;)

There is no mention of Intelligent Finance, I surely can't be the only consumer with their card? I also have a card mentioned in your list so would be interested in your opinion, to compare similarities/differences.

I use my Nationwide Select Visa (Their "Platinum" card) - purely due to cashback on the card, and I use Creation's Cashback Card for Petrol and Supermarket spending as it pays 1.5% back.

I only use my Nationwide Visa Debit card for the National Lottery as they don't accept credit cards.

(Lesson: Always pay your balance in full each month if you use cashback credit cards as otherwise you're wasting your time)

People must think I live off credit - but I only use them to make me money :)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Same here. I use my credit cards for everything, as I get cashback, points and armiles with mine, and all my cards are paid off in full each month. I very rarely use my debit cards, and my bank accounts are always in credit.

Cashback cards are excellent if your a big spender, but if your only spending £1000 a month on it you would expect more then a lousy tenner back.
I have a friend who loves his cashback until I showed him how much he actually gets back it was around £4.

A "lousy tenner" a month is £120 in a year, enough to buy a pretty nice handbag.

OP your post made me laugh. It also reminded me of the days when we had bank managers and you didn't have to have a private account for them to know your name or receive a personal service.

Call me prejudiced, but I associate being a Santander or Halifax customer with being slightly thick, the sort of person who has a Santander/Halifax account because their mum opened one for them 30 years ago, and also they use cash for everything because they don't trust Direct Debits/debit cards/Faster Payments because their mum didn't either.

I know I'm wrong, but it's what comes to mind.

Saw someone with a ThinkBanking card the other day. What came to mind there was "muppet".

OK I will. You're prejudiced and maybe also a muppet. :p
