Hi
Well the expected but dreaded letter from the debt collection agency for Talk Talk has arrived and surprise, surprise, not only have they increased the outstanding total by another months payment, they have still failed to answer our letters and phone calls.
This morning I have been held in a queue about 10 times trying to speak to this agency and have resorted to an email.
Please can anyone suggest to us our next steps..

Hi Gertie
I don't know how to solve this problem - but you're not on your own.
I signed up with Talk Talk last August & have been unable to use broadband since. I stopped paying my bill and wrote to them to tell them why - they then cut my phone line off (which is what I expected) but I have now had a letter from a debt collection agency threatening legal action. I have written to Talk Talk several times (as I realised phone calls were getting me nowhere) I've even threatenend them with the small claims court - all to no avail.
I'm thinking of writing to the debt collection agency with copies of letters to Talk Talk requesting that they speak directly to them and I also have a friend that works for Carphone Warehouse in the call centre so I'm going to see if she can get me a name or email address of someone there who might have the slightest idea of what they are doing.
I might also speak to the citizens advice & watchdog - & any one who will listen really.0 -
Hi there,
Thank you for your thread, I am sorry you are experiencing similar problems but I am sure we are only 2 of thousands. Doesn't make it right though.
I have emailed the debt collection service, as I am sick of waiting in a queue to speak to them. If I receive a reply I will post the info and the email address, which might help you.
Thanks again
Regards

You might want to email the Chief Executive, Charles Dunstone:
DunstoC@cpwplc.com
I have had correspondence with him, he allocates someone to speak to you. However, I am still having ongoing problems with Talk Talk, even though I no longer use them. Let them take you to court ... KEEP ALL CORRESPONDENCE AND USE RECORDED DELIVERY. IF YOU MANAGE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE, GET THEIR NAME AND ASK IF THE CALL IS BEING RECORDED.
I would LOVE a day in court with them, they haven't got a leg to stand on. And the laugh is, ever noticed when you are on hold (for hours), the background music is "We have got to get it together", lol. Are they taking the p**s or what?Claimed back in 2007

Good morning
Thanks for taking the time out to reply, especially the contact name.
Even the dreaded debt collection service (eh eh) seems to be tied with the same brush, still wailting for the reply to the email I mentioned in my original posting.
Hope you soon get sorted out and anyone else in the same boat and I will keep on trying
Kind regards
Gertie
ps Just this minute received another phone call from TT, in respect of my email as suggested by Smileysunflower, so many thanks to you as well.
Well the old saying of no bus and then 3 buses at once seems to be a good anomoly here.
Cheers and thanks again to you both0 -
Hi Gertie
I had a similar problem with TalkTalk (but with my phone line not broadband). Customer Services couldn't help, letters went unanswered, etc etc.
Eventually I spoke to Ombudsman who gave me a 'hotline' number to TalkTalk Customer Services (ie they have 2, one for everyday customers and one for those complaining to the regulator).
The number is 0800-049-5743. They will ask you where you got the number from - just say Oftel.
They were very helpful and sorted out my problem within days!
Hope this helps,

Hello Wrenboy,

I owe a real thank you to WrenBoy, I took the course of action recommended in his thread and quess what SUCCESS.
Alleged debt scrapped, unequivicable apology.
The advisor was absolutely superb, just how an employee should be, 5 minutes and resolved. Pitty the other people we have been in contact are not up to her standard.
ps to WrenBoy I would send you a bottle of champage and cannot thank you enouch.

Thanks for this I did receive a phone call from one of his underlings but by this time I had used the tel. number quoted by Wrenboy and sorted everything out in 5 mins. I hope your problems are soon resolved to your satisfaction. I am sure you are one of many who would like there day in court but lets hope it doesn't come to it. Good luck

Hey, I can go one better ...... subscribed to Talk 3 international and broadband, got letter saying they were going to upgrade exchange, service would be off for 4 hours - was off for over four weeks! Had to use mobile, other half abroad, trying to sell house .... should I go on?
Said they would refund mobile costs - didn't. I moved house, asked them to cancel service - didn't. Sent me a bill for £175 by email. Can't speak to anyone British, cut off, promised calls back - nothing. Written to them recorded delivery - no acknowledgement.
Emailed their Chief Executive. Got line back on eventually, they still owe me £220 in mobile calls. They have passed my account to Debt Recovery, I called debt firm and they sent report to Talk Talk. Called debt firm today, apparently account has been cancelled and wiped but still no communication from Talk Talk.
