just booked 2 day trips to use as one return

dover to dunkerque

it was a lot cheaper to book the 2 separate returns rather than just one return

i will use the outward on one and the inward on the other

is this allowed or will i be told off ???

I have read the ts&cs and cant find anything that says I cant do this...... after all ....... i have paid for them

has anyone ever done this and had any complications ??

I'd phone them to clarify it if I was you.

The fact that you wont be turning up for the return section of the 1st day trip will have no impact whatsoever. However as you are not travelling on the outward bound of the 2nd day trip it is more than likely that they'll cancel the return leg as you will be a 'no show'

Some years back I found that a return ticket from France to UK (Le Havre - Portsmouth) was significantly cheaper, from the same company, on the same boat, as the UK to France price. Rip Off Britiain in action.

On making further enquiries I was informed that I could not take the return leg of the journey first, in other words, if I did not go on the Out section, the return was not valid. That scuppered my plan, and that may well be the result of trying to do what you are doing. They wont care if you dont turn up for the other return leg on the first ticket, but presumably their system will block your second ticket automatically as the Out section was not used.

so they will block the second journey without notice ?

If you are considered as not turning up for your Out journey, then they will not contact you to ask why, so the first they will know about it is when you turn up for your Return journey, at which point you may find your ticket is not valid. They will not give notice because as far as they are concerned you are not over there to return as you did not go.

Not allowed - they will not let you on 'return' leg unless you pay full amount on the day. Happened to me and just no way out of it. Suggest you do search on this forum as there are plenty of stories with the same outcome.

This is well covered and you will probably end up paying the full list price for your journey.

Not worth the risk as they are used to checking for this kind of thing.

I decided to ring them TWICE (I diddnt believe the first time)

and both times they said that it is perfectly fine to do this as ive paid for them and if I dont want to come back on the return journey for one and not go out on the outward bound journey then this is fine

I diddnt catch the first ladiest name but the second ones name was janet

she took my reference numbers for both sailings

my story was ..... "i was going to go to france for 2 dirty weekends as my girlfriend couldnt get time off during the week. ive since found out that she can have time off and we would like to use the outbound on one booking and the return on the other"

the lady on the phone said that this is absolutely fine, i dont need to ammend the bookings and pay the admin fee and I specifically asked if on the second sailing because I diddnt go outward from dover - dunkerque would my return be cancelled because I am not TECHNICALLY in france for the return.
her answer was no not at all your booking is for both ways and you will not be asked why you diddnt attend at dover the day before

I have now rang twice and been reassured twice.......

I shall update when and IF i get back !!!

(maybe they have changed their policys recently)

all this to save a few quid hey :P
