    Aww, thanks GR!
  • I did have an old plastic one that I got from Freecycle as a back up but it was dropped and the fastenings snapped so it is no longer secure.

That's why I bought a new one (old one lasted 16 years so not bad going!).

There was a thread a while back where a cat has escaped her carrier outside the vets due to a faulty fastening. She was missing for weeks (thankfully eventually caught & returned to her relieved owner - can't remember the posters name :o it's on the tip of my tongue and will come back to me - probably in the middle of the night:rotfl:).

Mine was *probably* OK but ........ not worth the risk!

Sorry to add a but here ...... they're "not good" if you're cat isn't errrr a good traveller! (yup, there is experience talking here!)

From someone who travels around the country regularly to cat shows and goes regularly to the vets with kittens or other cats (I have 10 at present), having a top opening carrier is much better to get your cat / kitten in and out of. if they aren't a good traveller, put a cover over the top of the carrier. eg a blanket.

I find, cats don't like the appearance of trees, lamp posts, flicking past the window above them. Some cats however aren't good travellers no matter what you do. I get young cats feel more relaxed by carrying another cat, they know well, who is a good traveller to go with them in an adjacent basket. They seem to feel assured by this company.:)

Be careful borrowing carriers as frequently they are used to carry ill cats to the vet and may harbour something contagious.
