Is that just on the broadband side-will they offer a retention deal on the phone side as well if you have that?

Not unless you give up the legacy package for a new one (which you wouldn't want to, would you?)

So why will they then offer a deal on the broadband only but still leaving you on the legacy tariff? Seems illogical.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Maybe because they don't want to lose customers!

(You can have bb and no phone, but not vice versa)

Thanks, so customers who take both services can still get the broadband retention deal though?

I have been with O2 BB and land line since they started and been SIM only for my i phone for a few years as well. I am almost certainly moving to BT as the estimate speed for the Fibre is 52/15 and I can't resist the speed increase. I get a decent 11/1 with O2 but things are moving on and I could always move back to o2 if they get their act together on fibre. I am waiting for a SIM from giffgaff to replace my O2 SIM so my O2 BB would have gone up by £5 anyway.

Going back 14 months, any new contract would mean you come off the old legacy pack, thats how they got people off unwittingly.
Its been widely reported on their forums of such matters.

To be sure phone them up but state you want to be on the old legacy pack at all costs, see what they can do.

Know the feeling Neil, they dragged their feet now lost out and no inclination as to when. Surely next year over two years on.

I love O2. I recommend them to anyone and everyone. I was previously with BT (nightmares) for phone and broadband, £42 a month for phone package, line rental and unlimited broadband. Now, as I have an O2 mobile phone, this is £23 a month. Customer service is excellent, and the broadband speed is a full megabit above what it was with BT. Best switch I ever made, frankly.

O2 got my landline when they offered it for around £7.50 but you had to pay extra for caller display etc. and now they have sneaked the price of the landline back up again. As I use sim free phones I can save over £10 pm by taking my mobile elsewhere. In other words O2 add it on to take it off if to keep your mobile business.

Admittedly O2 have used better customer service but that's not a deal breaker for me as I rarely need them. BT Infinity has a few price points but their 'slow' option @38Mb is 5x a standard 8Mb connection for £18 + landline which is loads cheaper than your quoted £42 pm. If I want mega fast I could spend £8 more which would be £26 pm like a guy I know who is getting 73 Mb :T

If O2 get their act together again I could switch back. O2/BE offered good value in the LLU speed increase but have it seems been left in the dust this time for fibre by BT, Sky etc.

    BT Line rental £14.60 p/m
    Anytime Calls add £4.90 p/m
I used to get that from https://www.yourcalls.net for £14.25 p/m and on a 30 day rolling contract.

Then add their BT unlimited at £26 p/m
Thats how it adds up, Juicy aint telling porkies.

True fibre (FTTC) is better value as they are bending over backwards to get as many on to it, as in strict deadlines to be met and handouts.

O2 were too slow to act 14 months ago and still 12 months away.
Great service apart from the annoying text messages top up today to receive a discount. Why have had over £30 on it for 3 yrs.

BT Infinity starts at £18 not £26. BT Line rental can be had for £10.75 pm. Don't forget if/when o2 get fibre I can always move back. O2 gained custom with LLU and I predict by being slow out of the blocks with fibre they can lose it just as quick. We would all probably still be on dial up internet if their was no competition.
