You can’t (practically) search the forum unless you’re logged in. You’re repeatedly told to wait 25 seconds. This also applies to the Today’s-Posts search.
    wait_25_seconds.png

If you do try again later, you’ve always got more seconds to wait. If you do it rapidly, you can see the seconds to go count down, only to shoot back up to 25 before the counter reaches zero. There are very rare occasions when you do get a successful search. Are all people looking at the site who are not logged in being treated as the same single anonymous user? This is distinctly annoying for me, as I only bother to log in to post and don’t use cookies.

    Same here.

I get called away a lot and can only access the site infrequently usually on someone else's pc when I'm away. A quick glance is all I can do but this issue means I can't browse quickly. It's a real annoyance unfortunately.

Hm. I seem to have more thank yous than I can account for. Are they not updated properly at the moment? Also, since the upgrade I often get a page with hieroglyphs when I click "Back." Looks like that:

  • Hey Guys,

I'm pretty sure that the issues a lot of you are having is due to caching of some sort.

Firstly try ctrl-f5 on your browser, after that it maybe worth physically deleting your internet files and finally it maybe that your ISP has a cached version that needs to be purged in their cache - some isps have a cache of js/css files for a day etc.

    Thanks

Unless I'm much mistaken, the site timeout feature is not now allowing you to login again and still retain anything you've spent half an hour typing as a forum contibution. You have to start all over again.

Self-defence against this in Windows is to type control-A control-insert_key after you have finished typing and before you click on the button to submit the reply. If there's a problem with any web site you can then get it back using shift-insert.

On search, the time restriction which irritates me most is if I make a typo in a user name I'm searching for. It's very fast to find out that I've given a user who doesn't exist but it still gets the 25 second server protection delay applied. This isn't a change in behavior since the upgrade.

Only thing I've noticed is that the:

    Redirecting...

Thank you for logging in, ****.

Click here if your browser does not automatically redirect you.

page does not redirect (where it did before).

Other than that, excellent. Quickest the forums have been for ages.

The Search function was always pants and is still pants. Pick any word or phrase from a post so you know it is there and then do a search for it. About 1 in 4 times you find it. I don't understand how they design such a system, one that did it 0% or 100% of the time OK, but 25% must have been hard to set up.
