Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

WE actually have sunshine :j shame I am off to work, still it looks nice through the window :D

Will do a wash tonight, and get it on the airer, OH bought a de-humidifier at the garage sale as is desperate to try it out, (its meant to help your washing dry out too) so might try it tonight.

Dinner will be carbonara, with salad, which is nice and easy. Will have a quick tidy through before i go to work, and I need to post the last remaining ebay parcel.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Hi chums well the sun is shining and it looks bright and cheerful at least its a change from the grey even if its not that warm.Bit of a pottering around day today as I am staying away from the shops and on my 4th NSD today.Probably do a little baking, I did a wash last night so it will go on the line shortly for a blow.
Eldest DD went to see Barry Manilow at O2 last night and phoned me at around 10.30 to say what a brilliant time she was having. She only went as her pal had a spare ticket and wasn't bothered about him really but it seems he has made another fan.She said he was pure entertainment from the minute he got on stage.
I was watching our Eurovision entry the other day and I know he's getting on a bit and has had quite a bit of 'nip and tucks' but if you listen to his voice and the song its really quite a nice ballad instead of the usual bumpity bang sort of song.I hope he does well and I'm not a particular fan of his but you can't fault the man's voice, even at his age.
Well enough of the gassing its time I got a wriggle on school run to do and then I think I will make a nice victoria sponge cake as I have three little grandsons coming to my house after school for a change. They like to visit me at least once a week and check out the cakes and biscuit situation:)
Have a great day everyone and I hope the sun continues to shine down on us all

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dry, sunny, bright no cloud in the sky here this morning but air is chilly. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early, so he brought me a nice cuppa in bed before he left. Have put a long line of washing out on the line and have another load now in WM - if still looks good enough for 2nd load to dry will put that out later after work.

Work yesterday was slow - just as well really as we were short staffed! Only working until lunchtime today then I'm on day's off until Monday. I'm in a training session for most of the morning so shouldn't be too stressful. Dinner last night used up lots of LO's - so fridge looks rather bare but at least nothing has been wasted - remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - so tonight's dinner is roast chicken pieces, mash, veg and gravy, may make a pud if I get time.

Am a happy girl this morning as my mis-sold PPI refund has been put into my bank account, was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. We're away again this weekend, really looking forward to it as it's not too far and DH will take caravan Friday night I'll take my car and he'll come home and work Saturday then come over and I get to go into the next town for a bit of retail therapy and brekkie on Saturday morning after staying on site Friday night - boys enjoy that too.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Good Morning All

Happy Birthday to BB's DD :j

Hope DS gets on OK Molly

Sitting here freezing cold, have had to put the heating on again. Sunshine but no warmth, oh well at least its not raining.

Done essential banking this morning and about to jump in the shower, DS has a dentist appointment later which is quite away away so losing a large chunk of this morning. Hope to get some housework done before we go and will do the ironing this afternoon.

Cupboards and freezers are jam packed so really need to start using the stuff up, have loads of canned stuff in the cupboards so going to be strict with myself and start clearing it out - you never know one day I might need freezer space for barbecue stuff :rotfl:

Todays dinner will be pork kebabs with onion and mushroom rice as have lots of mushrooms to use up, think also will have mushrooms on toast for lunch.

    Have a great day all.x

    Morning :hello:

Beemuzed lots of love to you.

Marie, sorry to hear about Thunder  Still hopeful for Kerry  It might be an idea to post a thread in on the Pets board, Sazzy's dog ran away and people have lots of ideas on how to get him back.

Molly sorry about Squeaky  We keep piggies too, it horrible when they go. Our little old lady Molly is quite weak, I think her hearing's nearly gone, her sight's going and she's losing weight. But she's eating and drinking, loves a cuddle and is still warbling when you speak to her. Every morning the first thing I do is check on her to make sure she's still breathing..........

Not much to report, I've been a bit lazy. Went to town yesterday morning and spent the rest of the day recovering :D I hate shopping in town. We were supposed to have frost this morning so I covered the beans and peas in the garden with fleece. There was no frost, I've just taken the soggy fleece off and hung it to dry, I'm going to put it back down tonight just in case.

There's not much to do here, just a bit of tidying. I have a couple of new books, think I'll sit and read this afternoon.

    Morning all

Lovely and sunny here which is great for our solar panels. Wm just about to finish so will get that out on the line. About 10 items left to iron so will fit that in somewhere along the line.

Will be picking up some pallets today from a lovely freecycle man who will be keeping us supplied with as many as we can take/store. I picked up 14 last week, chopped up 10 into fire sized chunks and have them all stacked in the garage.....love free wood for the fire!

After a supremely naff day yesterday with lots of bad news and DH having a really bad day, I'm looking forward to getting him out of the house for an hour or two today, maybe a bit of charity shop browsing or just a sit at the beach with some lunch and a flask of coffee.

Gammon pasta bake for tea (didn't have it last night), it's already made so just need to shove it in the oven later!

Hope everyone has a great day.
