Don't let it bother you, you've done well to learn how to change what you eat and tbh I like mini milk, fishfingers, chicken nuggets and jelly and custard even though I can cook from scratch. :)

I vote for fish fingers too......haven't eaten them for years, but have a real thing for them at the moment.

OP don't let peoples comments upset you , they may well come from a good place just not come across like that. The written word can easily be misinterpreted especially when you don't actually know the person.I am new to all this and have found some comments I have made when re-read may look not as nice as intended, and vice-versa.
I would imagine it goes with this territory.

So you keep going kiddo, and I am sure you will do fine.
Start with easy recipes as already suggested and it will grow. Also build up your stores gradually to make different things.

I made the twinks , halved the recipe as only me to feed, but it made loads by the way..so that's good for the budget. Also nice crumbled into ice-cream:)
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I dont intend to hence why we stopped eating that junk and started to learn how to cook proper meals - we are just using it up rather than waste it now, its the last stuff in the freezer so obviously been n there a while.

    on a side note -
im quite upset by the people that feel it's appropriate to judge me! you have no idea the reasons behind those foods in my house nor the kind of things ive had to go through in order to change my eating habits and teach myself how to cook.

I appreciate VERY much, the extremely helpful and non judgemental replies, after all thats what ive been led to believe OS is about.

But really how nasty to just reply to point out something i am CLEARLY trying very much to change. Id rather you didn't bother at all.

I apologise for any upset i caused. I think it is commendable you are learning and developing in the kitchen

I would like to point out, that though this thread is to help you, others doing less well at learning will read it. Though i agree we should all have been less rude it is also imporatant to point out how for health and budget somethings have no place in the regular shopping list of an OSer.

Now, are you going to share thoses minimilks?:)

  • You are doing well to decide to cook from scratch and save money. Once the baby arrives you will have a lot less time than before so great to get a head start financially and nutritionally. Eat whatever is left, it might not be *wonderful* nutritionally, but it's there and it's free/paid for. Add lots of veg if you want to feel better. Fish fingers - not terrible actually, most are just fish with breadcrumbs. Probably better for you and much cheaper than a takeaway when you are tired and don't feel like cooking. Although we cook from scratch almost always, they are so handy to have for those nights when everything goes wrong and 1 packet at £1 saves you £20 on a chinese!

Good luck. A good cookbook is "How to Boil an Egg and Other Simple meals for One" - my OH bought it from WHS when I injured myself and couldn't stand for a while. Very basic, but sensible.

    Dinner last night was

hubby: Turkey dinosaurs, chips & peas
me: chips & sweetcorn! - I was supposed to have pie but i was feeling quite nauseas and could only manage to get down me the sweetcorn and the chips, so hubby took the pie for lunch today.

I have a scan tonight so think its going to be fish fingers and veggies for the both of us with some bread and butter as it will be gone 7 by the time we get back.

im planning to make twinks tomorrow and also macaroni cheese with broccoli.

Saturday im happy as we are being taken to the hungry horse with the inlaws so will have a big lunch and just have a sarnie for dinner.
