Post one only has the question, "What have I done", which, from the information given, is pretty unclear!
I have clearly explained the action I took, copied out the error message and even provided a screenprint. What further information do you need?
One thing is clear though; I didn't ask 'Tell me about your favourite Linux distro.'

I think they're asking you to use more question marks.

Or perhaps I should have typed "I can't see how that answers my question in post #1 or my statement in #4."
But had I done that, he'd probably have replied with "How can I answer a statement?" :wall:

I've already achieved that (on my netbook). 3G dongle connects with Ubuntu quicker than it does on XP, without any configuration. Just looking for a smaller distro that can do that.

Either dual-boot XP/Kbuntu or install it on a USB thumbdrive. Once running, you can get a full set of instructions on getting your E353 up and running on the Ubuntu forums.
The instructions should, in theory, work in any distro though.

You could use an Ubuntu variant that uses a different window manager...
