Kernal, when are you actually going to do something?
I thought you were wanting something to run in ram? So available disk space is irrelevant.
Nothing that small will connect to a 3G dongle without a ridiculous amount of hassle.
I decided to download Zorin 6 lite (695MB) onto my hard drive. I opened the resulting .iso with CD Burner XP. I then burnt the image onto a 700MB CD-R, checking beforehand in 'Properties' that every byte was unused. My boot sequence is Floppy first then CD ROM, but the process stops after the PCI Device Listings. It states
ISO LINUX 4.04 20110518 ETCD Copywrite 1994-2011 H. Peter Anvin et al
EDD: error 8000 reading sector 355697

Then there is a flashing ' - '

Looking at the disc in Windows, the properties now shows this

What have I done?

More to the point, what are you going on about and what are you actually trying to do?!

It's usually better to use a USB stick these days than burn a cd-r.

But if you want to burn CD-r's then slow the drive down to a x2 or x4 speed burn instead of "max".

Not sure what part is unclear.

I am trying to connect a Huawei E353 HSPA+ mobile broadband dongle to as small a Linux distro as possible.

The BIOS options of the machine I want to use it on are CDROM, ZIP100, LAN, LS120, SCSI, USB-FDD and USB-ZIP. I set it to boot the last two first, but the distro I had on a USB stick would not boot.

Well, I'm a big fan of Arch because it's so customisable and you start off with a minimalist set-up (console only, few apps installed by default).

If you're interested, the website is here: https://www.archlinux.org/

And if you're trying to install to flash media, you can do that too:

No, but I did hijack one :)

That thread, which Tanglefoot identified, was essentially about Linux but failed to mention the subject in the title.

I can't see how that answers my questions in either post #1 or #4.
You were promoting this distro on another thread, where I agreed with this poster:

If you are new to linux I would suggest Puppy or Mint LXDE Definitely not Arch ( Which is a very good version of linux - But IMNSHO not ideal for a nube)
Sadly, Puppy would not connect with the Huawei.

What are you talking about?! Post one only has the question, "What have I done", which, from the information given, is pretty unclear! And post four doesn't contain a question at all!

Good luck at figuring out how to use Linux... :p

Looks like Zorin 6 failed to boot.

Have a look at http://usbtux.hostzi.com/livecd - how to make a live usb.

I get the impression Mr Sander's PC won't boot from USB due to it's age.
How do I add a signature?
