If you just post your question then usually a Virgin rep will take up your problem fairly quickly & escalate the matter themselves, well worth a try...0 -

Thanks. It is worth a try. I did put a post on their forum 24 hrs ago but no one's replied yet. I'll give it another day and see what happens.0 -
Rang virgin again and got the most helpful guy - he tested everything and he concluded that I may have slightly nicked the sim when I trimmed it to a micro sim so we'll try a new sim and see if that fixes it. I'll let you know how I get on. also he told me virgin will get micro sims from June 2012 if anyone is interested. Thnx everyone.0

I'm pleased to report new sim is in, the correct number is showing and grandma can receive photos by txt which don't say go to the website to collect. There was no damage to the original sim. Spoke to Apple support on Saturday - they said its the "provisioning". i.e. not attaching the correct properties to the ported number as the virgin sim phone number sat underneath it so to speak. The new sim was going to be pre loaded with the correct phone number so Apple anticipated that would sort it out and in fact it has. So a heads up to anyone considering virgin sim for iPhone - its the porting of number which causes it as not all virgin techies seem to know how to do the provisioning. I was lucky with mine as it wasn't a techie but a call centre operative who sorted mine out when he said not everything behind the scenes has been done but wasn't so lucky with grandmas. All sorted now although I made a mistake about not realising that we are paying 40p to send (free to receive) a photo so we are now using what's app. So I'll see how it goes and look around if that becomes inconvenient. Even Grandma cut the sim to fit today - well done to her - A reminder that virgin will get micro sims from June if that helps anyone Thnx everyone for help.0
