To be honest, if I had been in any other supermarket (other than the one I seriously hate going in) then I would probably have done the sameToday I just looked at the offer and thought naah no room, don't stop, you can get out of here quicker that way!!

Having the same problem, looking at buying a fridge freezer instead of my fridge and keeping the seperate under counter freezer I have. I do use the bag in box system and reuse most freezer bags after washing them out (using milton) I tend to freeze in the box then tip the frozen nicely shaped block into a bag, tip it back into whatever it's cooking in when I need to use it so the bags don't get all clarty! One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
The great news is that having a full freezer uses less electricity than having a half-empty one - so you are saving money AND being more environmentally friendly to boot!0

So THAT's how it's done! :T :TBargain_Rzl wrote:Of course I conveniently forget that several batches of stew/soup/pasta-bake/fish pie later, I will find myself with about 20 neatly boxed-up single-portion meals which won't fit in the freezer :rotfl:
I really, really wish I didn't know what you are talking about...but I do!(currently 3 portions of tarragon chicken in the fridge waing for me to re-do the freezer jigsaw)
Will someone please remind me to add to my shopping list "DO NOT PUT THE UNOPENED BARGAN FIND IN THE FREEZER, SEPARATE INTO PORTIONS FIRST" I always end up having to defrost the lot and batch cooking more than I have the freezer room for.
One day the penny will drop that I can defrost as much as I need to when I want to batch cook :rolleyes:My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

My freezer is full too - but being in a flat also i have a small fridge freezer which has to sit in the end of my living room becuase there is no room in the kitchen for it - thanks to an inconveniently placed boiler and there being no room to twirl a hamster let alone a cat. when i manage to find the camera i will take a photo - also doesnt help that the washing machine wont work if its sat under the side all the pipes get bent out of shape etc so that is sat in the middle of the kitchen making it really impossible to get to the microwave too and bockign off one cupboard which is currently empty asa fight with the washerr/dryer doesnt apeal to me to get my baking stuff so thats now housed on top of the cupboard. Im thinking next week of having a total kitchen shift about with appliance wise etc as my slow cooker, george foreman and microwave all get used alot and i can barely reach them so havent used them lately.
Anywya as for the freezer mine has a small freezer on top - one compartment witha small ledge for ice cubes etc and thats it!!! and the fridge is huge - its never used and always looks empty. scandelous!
Next week im going to be having a 'live off the freezer' few weeks to use it all up so that i can get sorted i think and start gettign some cooked meals in it - there are two small 1.5kg frozen chickens currently sat in my freezer that are takign up alot of the space. and lots of odds and sods - bag with 2 sausages in, 2 chicken burger things, etc stupid bits that werent cooked because they'd get wasted etcTime to find me again0 -
Well I made a tiny bit more room yesterday - finished up the oven chips (went very well with the omelet). Managed to rearrange a drawer and got 3 portions of curry in there.
Got a loaf of bread that ought to go in there, but that will just have to wait till tonight when I get the pork chops out to defrost....working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
The dilema is you take out frozen mince, make chilli, eat two potions, only room to freeze one portion in the space left by the original mince.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I wanna garage to store stuff in and put an extra freezer
And it will come faster if you take cooltrikerchick's advice and have a week off shopping and cooking and put the saved housekeeping money into a savings account, or to pay off debt depending on your circumstances. The idea is not to pay good money in electricity to store this stuff long term.0 -
