I have two freezers and both are bursting at the seams. I just can't resist a bargain :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Today in Sainsburys they had fish cakes for 40p and "posh" burgers for 60p so I couldn't just leave them on the shelves.
I am very lucky that although I too live in a flat it is very spacious. I have 2 huge cupboards in my hallway. One of which is large enough to house the 2nd freezer, vacuum cleaner, hubby's golf clubs, stockpile from Costco of washing powder, loo rolls and kitchen towel. There is also a cupboard in each bedroom and a full length of house fully floored loft. I am loathed to move and no one understands why I stay here as it "has no garden", "there are stairs to walk up", etc0 -
Bargain_Rzl wrote:Same here - I just keep refilling it. It is forever full of individual portions of soup, to the point that I can't get any more in! In an ideal world I would make about 4 batches of soup one week, and none the next week (as I shop at a vegetable market which I would prefer only to have to visit once a fortnight) but I only ever have the space to freeze 2 batches
Ok so how do we actually work it out to fit more stuff into the same space???
I always did like Krypton Factor and jigsaw puzzles :rotfl:
If I put all future soups and sauces into freezer bags and freeze them as flat as possible (chances of that are slim though as the freezer space doesn't really allow that) will that help? Or do them small and square?
Thing is everytime I put a bag into a tub and freeze it, it gets stuck so I have to leave the tub in the freezer anyway as the stuff is stuck in it!!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I had to go shopping today with a note on the bottom of my list saying NO FREEZER ROOM! Otherwise I'd have bought the mince on offer, and the prawns...working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Newleywed, I must remember that one. I just get carried away and realise when I get home and I am trying to wedge things into spaces that aren't there :rotfl:

Skystar - the only built-in cupboard in my flat only has space for the immersion tank, hoover, Wally Trolley (:D) and on the shelf above, the duvet & pillows for the sofa-bed, and an impressive stockpile of loo roll bought on special offer
So I am stuck with having just the one fridge freezer!
I like the idea of freezing bags-within-boxes and then taking them out so they tessellate (sp?) but am concerned about the environmental aspect of using so much disposable plastic (my borough doesn't provide recycling facilities for plastics). Is there such a thing as inexpensive biodegradable freezer bags?Operation Get in Shape

It was spending half an hour trying to find ways to cram in the veg curry I made into the freezer that helped me to decide to add the note!! :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I wash out the freezer bags and reuse them as much as I can. But can't seem to get round the way the stuff expands when it freezes and gets stuck to the tub anyway!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Of course I conveniently forget that several batches of stew/soup/pasta-bake/fish pie later, I will find myself with about 20 neatly boxed-up single-portion meals which won't fit in the freezer :rotfl:Operation Get in Shape
