    Thank you, Russ, for a well reasoned comment.

    My issues with it are;

    1) Sometimes the £10 solution *is* up to the job, by definition (if it sometimes isn't then it must sometimes be!)

    2) In your profession it probably isn't worth taking the risk. But as a DIY, money-saving solution, it saves a *lot* of money and no-one has quantised the risk so it's hard to make an educated decision. You of course would not fit one of these things as the risk/reward is much too high.

    1) Agreed - sometimes it is up to the job - but I, nor anyone, will be able to tell you the success/failure rate of these things, although In Toolstation is clearly states that this kit is not to be used when supplying a pressurewasher - I believe they have had alot of complaints that it's not upto the job and so have put a disclaimer on the item in question. They wouldn't do this without good reason :D

    2) Not only do we risk a callback and a disappointed customer when it fails to live up to their expectations, it reflects upon us that if we have not given clear advice in the first place and advised NOT to use this type of solution then I don't think we'd benefit from further opportunities with the customer or word-of-mouth recommendations. It goes alot further than the extra 50 notes we'd make from doing the job 'properly'.

    I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right - far from it as your setup works perfectly for you - so in your case I'm wrong and you're right :D

    Well I'm sure the OP has had lots of fun reading3the pros and cons of the two very dfferent approaches - after all this I'd love to hear what their decision is.... nudge ;)

    My pressure washer kicks back when you switch it off, even with the checkvalve it makes the pipes rattle. If someone puts a cheap and cheerful tap on later, it has a fair chance of splitting the hose after a while.

    Chaps what none of us who do this sh*t day in day out, personally for over 35 years, realise, is that we've been doing it all wrong since day one! If only mkaibear had been there to guide us from day one we'd have had no ocmebacks, made no mistakes and been bathing is asses milk surrounded by burning piles of £50 notes...

    9 years off retiring and I learn today where I've been going wrong all these years! My wife's going to kill me and marry M - hell an upside finally!!!!

    There are none so blind as those who do not want to hear - or something!

    Hi peeps and thanks for the input.

    I dont actually want an outside tap myself. I already have one. I was just wondering what the market would stand as I am thinking of launching a special summer offer for those who dont have proper taps in their gardens/drives
    Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Thought so.:D Guess the hosepipe ban won't impact on your market.
