Oo I like it. The old style takes alot of getting used to, so much text makes the eyes go funny, but then with so many tips and ideas out there it must be a struggle! Spacing it out makes it easier to read things, although it took me a while to realise where the link to the beloved forum was :yikes: if i stumbled on the page i wouldn't realise there was a forum to join... imagine the bargains i'd miss out on... *shudder*:rotfl:0

I like the ideas, I think it's slightly too busy, and the all the boxes should have some idea of proportion. They just seem to be all different sizes scattered over the page.
Also - the banner at the top is sooooo compressed, especially considering it's only ever going to be downloaded once by each user.0 -
Whilst i accept change will always meet some resistance i have a fairly major concern.
WHY is the new site not scaled to fit the monitor its displayed upon. 50% of my screen is totally and utterly waisted displaying a white border ! WHY - apart from lazy developers ! ( Im a dev btw )
PLEASE use the screen space - its a valuable commodity !

I think it's pretty good. JPEGS shouldn't be compressed as much - web images should be PNGs or GIFS.. photos should be JPEGs.. Blocks of colour should be GIFs or PNGs.... so the top banner for example should be a GIF background and for the mse.com logo - but the photo of martin should be a square .jpg that matches up with the .gif or a png overlaid as they have transparency.
I don't like how the "tools" box isn't the same height as the 2 blue ones - It would look better if they were.. it doesn't matter that the links wouldn't fill it either.. If not the same height it should start horizontally at the same position... that way your eyes run across the row of boxes better. This really bugs me on the front page actually.. it looks totally wrong.
Also on the front page the fun box has a background image missing - so it's white - but that's a simple bug.
Also on say the banking page or the utilities page or whatever.. In the left column the top narrow boxes should be identical width stuck together to the bottom wider ones..
Generally it's got some great points but is poorly executed in parts..
I'm generally commenting on view in Firefox - although I've looked in IE too. I notice there are broken box model issues - the boxes are different sizes depending on which browser you are viewing in.. surely that can be avoided with a simple CSS hack?0 -
omg i cant wiat it looks great! looks like its going to be easier to get around too thanks bigs kisses martin lol"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

Yes it means the space is wasted - but personally I prefer to have the site centred in the middle.
I tend to only look at the middle of my screen.. on a large screen with a high res you actually have to move your head if valuable bits of info are put around the outside..
Oh and yes it's easier to develop so it's saved them some time (especially with all these boxes they're contending with! columns and CSS can be a pain!). I wouldn't say it's particularly lazy though..0
