I think it looks impressive. Change can be good or bad and I reckon this will be a bit of both because like others said it does look a bit more commercial but it also looks a lot more 'official' if you get what I mean!!??[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

I think the new layout is a great improvement. It looks more professional and easier to use.
However I'm not sure new users would be aware of the chat forums, maybe that needs to be enhanced in some way.0 -
New site looks great Martin.

Nce to see you modernising the site martin - hopw you got a good deal.
However there is a fear you site might start to look like the Motley Idiots site - which is very commercialy orientated - they even try to sell you books!
All the Best

Looks good to me Martin................moneysaving with a modern high tech look.
I thought the old style site looked fine.......until I saw the new one which in my humble opion is a big improvement.
Please keep up the great workPeteraj.
Trying hard to save money and trying to help friends do the same by finding the real "Moneysaving" bargains and avoiding companies that take my custom for granted.0 -
Looks great -but am important question - will we still get the 'Genetically Modified' Martin's for the site logo at different times of the year???? (loving the Red Nose Day one

Looks nice and refreshing from the current design, sorry if this has been said already but I do think it looks somewhat "commercial", e.g. Moneysupermarket-style.
Think the design could be simplified a bit, and perhaps reduce the number of colours as that can overwhelm.
Also, try not to constrain the site to a narrow format, these days people have high res desktops, it should be at least 1024 wide = easier to read, more info, less clutter.
Not being negative here, just trying to offer some guidance and opinion
Edit: Doh, it is virtually 1024, it's me on my widescreen monitor.0 -
From a design point of view, the new site looks like an amateur mess, in my humble opinion. Please dont flame me, this is just my opinion. I think that its sad to see such a great site given such a dis-service, at such a time of opportunity. Some elements of the new design seem like good ideas but are poorly implemented: information still comes across as more cluttered than focused even with the new (yet uninspired) visual groupings. Theres simply too much crammed onto one screen - the web equivalent of a table at a jumble sale, crammed and overflowing with items. On top of that, cosmetically, theres boxes inside keylines inside bevelled coloured bars inside boxes inside keylines.. it all adds to visual clutter and screams bad design. Every colour of the rainbow has been used, rather than establishing any kind of colour scheme - cause for a total lack of visual identity.
Is that black 8 ball with eyes and teeth is the new mascot of MSE? Whats it doing.. eating the P of the logo and thats blood coming out is it? Bizaire. Was that actually chosen by anyone at MSE from a range of ideas? Or were you not even given a choice?I hear the cry of the silence around me.0 -
This is looking very nice indeed.... Am liking it.The art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0

It's all a bit 'Vista' isn't it? Lots of fancy graphics, wild colours, glowing buttons. But does it really add to the usability of the site? Hmm, not sure, will have to give it a go! I don't think you need to colour-code the site unless it's aimed at kids. Alternatively let the visitor choose their own colour scheme, any well-coded site these days can implement this feature. The window title boxes with the arrows look fine, but the 3-dimensional shining boxes look tacky. I think you should run a competition to design a new mascot for the site0
