Santander Happy customer

After 2 years of total inepitude from Santander, I have transferred my 2011/12 isa to the new 2012/13 isa with just a phone call. Simple.

Credit where credit is due, I vowed to not let them have any more of my business(inertia took over) but this time I was pleasantly suprised.

Maybe that's the key to customer service. Do an incredibly bad job and then 2 years down the line get it right first time and the customers delighted.

    New concept perhaps?

It may not have been transferred just yet. :-) Chickens and hatch come to mind.

    Make that 2

As I posted some time ago, I have found Santander no better and no worse than Nationwide, RBS, Lloyds, Halifax, FD or Natwest - all of whom I have, or have had, accounts with.

They all have the capacity to annoy you, make mistakes, make great offers, make not so great offers. Six in one, half a dozen in the other.

    Make that 4.

Like innovate, I've posted elsewhere that in my personal experience, Santander are no better or worse than other banks or building societies.

When I did have a problem some time ago, over a credit card application, they did send me some beautiful flowers by way of apology - two lots actually as I was away when the first lot were delivered :rotfl:

I posted my positive experience because in the past I have complained on this forum about poor Santander service. I got some responses at the time accusing me being anti Santander!

So not an appreciation thread, just a trying to be balanced thread.

I'm also a happy Santander customer - it seems we are a rarity!

I've been with them for 3 years nearly and never had a problem. They've just transferred my ISA from Halifax with no problem - it took 32 days but they've back paid the interest.

To be honest Halifax caused me more problems as my current account with them didn't have a debit card for 3 months because they didn't see a glitch in the system that cancelled it everytime it was requested. Although they did give me £100 (eventually) for the inconvenience.

I'm a happy Santander customer too but that's because I know how to deal with them: I am their Master and they are my slave and if they do wrong they get a damn good whipping.

btw it helps to be always in credit and never be overdrawn :)

I think you make a good point: most of the negative comments I have seen about Santander are to do with overdraft charges. The few positive, or neutral, ones appear to be from people who like the Santander savings interest rates, and their 1-2-3 cashback and interest.
