If you can afford it. Take a bite of the apple.
Failing that wait for the Nexus.

Thanks Dexters, that sounds very tempting to wait for, $200 would be my absolute limit and that sounds like a well spec-ed tablet.
Definitely not able to afford apple.0 -
It is only a 7inch though this will be a loss leader for google.
You will get a lot for your cash.
They are after a market that apple have "not yet" dominated. The reviews so far have been nothing but great and the good news is it "should" be released in the UK first to avoid apple and its "SUE HAPPY" US business practice.

One of many.
I may be buying one myself as it will also work as a kindleesque gadget.
Here's hoping:A:jLibertas Supra Omnia:j:A0 -

It's curious that there are so many (apparently excellent) Android tablets avaiilable from Chinese vendors, yet British consumers are totally unfamiliar with the names of either the manufacturers OR the retailers.
A hundred quid seems a realistically affordable amount to spend on a tablet when compared to the price of a laptop or notebook. I'm astounded that there aren't a LOT more 7" tablets around, on sofas, on busses, on trains in free WiFi Hotspots, given that they're such extraordinarily good value (as compared to Apple's iPad, which I consider over priced and over sized. A 7" 16:9 tablet is the same size as a paperback book - it slips easily into a pocket or handbag. An iPad simply doesn't!)
I tool a chance and bought an Ainol Novo7 Paladin - one of the smallest 7" tablets around (No, they're NOT all the same size - different tablets have different sized "bezels" - that's the frame around the screen) WiFi performance was a little disappointing (I live in a BIG house, which is probably why) but as a video and audio player, and as an ebook reader, it's a superb £80's worth.
My phone has just reached the end of its contract; I sold it on Ebay (frrst having secured a "free" replacement!) and promptly reinvested the cash (£110) in Ainol's new Aurora 2 7" tablet bought direct from Merimobiles in China.0 -
I agree with Bigron. Mine is a Chinese import and for the price I certainly have not complaints. I was a gift to my Husband from the children and he doesn't put in down. I it did not live up to expectations knowing my husband as I do 'we would have all heard about it-trust me'-Keep your eyes to the sunshine and you would not see the shadows-

Why does no-one on here mention the Acer Iconia? It is a fab little tab and gets far too little press. It has a micro sd slot and a usb port, it is lovely and smooth, the gps works very well, and it has ICS. I have absolutely no complaints about mine! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Right, have looked around for ages and I guess I could keep looking and waiting for new ones to come out without ever getting to the point of buying. So, looking for last recommendations for a fairly large screen tablet!0
