Any advice on finding sports funding for an induvidual ???

Oh yes, I should have mentioned the Rotary Club. Our local branch receives applications mainly from groups, but will also support individuals. My disabled child recently received a grant from them (not for sport).
I've been out since I last posted, but will try to find the name of that book for you now.
ETA: found it! It's £75  so definitely one to try the library for. If they don't have it in stock, they might be able to borrow one from another library, even from another area. Where I live, this costs 50p per book.

There is also this website, but as it has a hefty subscription, check to see if any local libraries have it

If you are working, it might be worth checking to see if your employer can sponsor you at all.0 -

A lot depends on what sport it is. I coach athletics and apart from one or two funds, the most notable being the Ron Pickering award, there is little or nothing for youngsters unless they have reached standards that would rank them in the top few for a senior. Even then it's not usually more than a couple of hundred pounds a year.
What sport is it?0 -
Years ago my husband competed as an international powerlifter. He had free training from a local gym, then he went to the local press who ran an article on him requesting sponsership. There were some individual donations and a local company came forward who agreed to help with all his expensees. His club(the same local gym) always submitted arcticles to the local paper whenever he competed.
Good luck0 -
Sponsorship for young teenagers rarely happens apart from a token amount as so many good juniors fail to make it to the senior rankings, and I think most companies recognise this. Unless your DD is competing at the levels that Tom Daley does that is!:)0

Try The Princes Trust, i competed in BMX racing for many years and received some grants from them. You can get an application form online.

Wow thanks for all your replys.
Ive just applied to the princes's trust and am heading off to the library very shortly. I visited a library yesterday but they did not have the book. Forgot to mention I already had some luck with the rotary club. They are fab. Anyone else interested in this thread I did notice on this website there is a turn2us grant search which has thrown up a few places to try. Thanks again everyone as always i get great advice here. xCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

I think most parent with children competing at a high level in sports generally fund raise themselves.
I have along with my children as at the end of the day it is for them.
Cake stall, sponsored activities walk, swim whatever is relevant to their sport, supermarket bag pack, disco, letters out to all local buisnesses, bingo night etc.
We have raised some serious money over the years doing the above.
Good luck0 -
Have you tried the National Governing Body for whatever sport it is (you don't say?)
Also try: Round Table, Rotary, Lions
Also try the Sports organisation for your county - e.g Lancashire Sport.
Also contact the sports centre that the young person trains at as they may have some contacts within the grant-giving organisations.0 -
