Any advice on finding sports funding for an induvidual ???

Hi everyone
Does anyone have any advice on which companys I could contact regarding help with funding a young talented athlete. As its not an olympic sport there is not as much help out there. Ive tried our local council and they have said no. Ive also tried a few other organisations without much luck. Any advice greatly appreciated. TIA x

If there is a club linked to the sport, you could try them.

You could also ask at your main library for funding information - there is a book of funding for individuals. I can't remember the name of it, but it is published annually and our library has it in a separate section with other funding information. It is reference only, so you can't take it home. Although this might not be the case at your main library it is worth checking. Also, it isn't just sports funding, so you might have to plough through a lot of information before you find a suitable possibility.

I'll post a link if I can find the name of the book.

I went to a Freemasons' open day last week.

They had a board up illustrating their involvement in various charities. As well as the big names there were also individuals, including some sporting youngsters (tae-kwon-do and sailing are two I remember). I would think these would likely be one off grants though, rather than a continuous sponsorship..

It might be worth a letter.

Sport is a rich man's game. My sibling went to an event to compete in the past week and with the cost of petrol and a cheap B&B, plus entry fees, it cost over £300 for a few medals. So ... gold medal holder in the UK .... end of the line now as it's too expensive to compete.
