New Desktop around £700

Hi

I have looked at a number of threads on here and I am not sure if they are up to date enough to answer my question

I would like to start by saying I am NOT going to build my own PC

I am happy to buy 'off the shelf' or 'built to order'

I am looking for a tower or desktop maximum height or width 35cm

I need something that is reliable, is not going to be out of date within a year and not cheap but good value for money - budget is between

£500 - £700 - possibly more

I do not use it for gaming

My main uses are watching movies and tv - (downloads)

So graphics are very important to me - My monitor is:

Hazro HZ27WC 8-Bit 27" LED Widescreen Professional Monitor

So I do not need to buy a monitor

Due to space I only have a 2.1 speaker setup which is Creative Gigaworks T3

Music is also important so I need a high quality Sound Card as well as the Graphics Card

In the past I have always ordered Dell and taken extended warranties - I know you pay for this but I like the peace of mind it gives you

I would want something with 1TB storage and 6GB of RAM minimum

I use Windows Vista but I suppose I might need to update

I am happy to listen to all advice given

    Which one do you recommend?

The one I have at the moment has a new home intended for it - so I thought I would upgrade at the same time

I need quality graphics, sound card and storage

If you know Dell but want a bargain , then Dell outlet is a good place to look ...You may have to look quite a few times as they refresh their list daily and the weekend is not the best time to look.

Either that or HotUKdeals ..they tend to be a lot harsher on offers than folk here ...But if it gets voted up on that site it we be a bargain that works.

Nice to see slimlinks hard at work.

Its a pity you wont build yourself, for 700 you have exactly what you want.

I know that 23n1th would dearly like you to consider one of these. :money:

    And so you should. :)

Not if the OP wants a proper desktop, with a dedicated sound card and decent graphics like they stipulated. Not to mention a way of adding more than what 3 peripherals (?) and then ones that don't involve extremely expensive proprietary connectors.

Besides which the OP has upto £700 to spend of the thing and wants 1TB on hard drive space. Apple are charging £600 for 750GBs of hard drive space, well not really they are charging £600 for a 250GB upgrade to the 500GB hard drive already included! Plus theres the RAM the OPs minimum of 6GB means they need to pay another £160 for a 4GB upgrade making it 8GB from 4GB!!!!!

The OP probably wants a DVD drive as well, which doesn't come with this suggestion, apple charge £66 for that pleasure.

I'm running the comparison from the more expensive of the two on offer which starts out at a price of £699 so for what they want with apple the would need what £1400 (???) and still not get what they wanted (a decent computer).

Would you clarify the above. Do you mean 35cm width AND height, or do you mean if the height OR width is within 35cm, the other can be any reasonable size?

I only ask, as the get a box which is 13" square doesn't give a hell of a lot of choice. But something like this, http://www.ebuyer.com/350716-shuttle-sz68r5-barebone-sz68r5?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products
but you'd need to get a local shop to add the processor/cpu, RAM and graphics card, and possibly a creative audigy sound card. Oh and the drives....
