Hi Andy
Mashed potato is fine to freeze, but when reheating put a bit of butter/marge in with it and stir it in half way through the heating process, just like freshmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

What reheating method should i use? I was thinking of microwave, or could i reheat in oven along with other part of meal.I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
Either microwave or oven is fine. Don't be shocked when you see your frozen mash - it separates and looks disgusting! When fully reheated you just need to stir it well and it will go back to the proper texture.0

Microwave works well. In the past I've just put it in a bowl, covered with cling film and with some holes pricked in the top, sorted!0

I like frying it
mmm, with some cheese. Mmmmmmmmmmm.... *drools*

sorry Andy, either is fine, Microwave if your not using your oven for anything like having it with Sausages, if your making something in the oven put it there with that, put some butter in half way and if you like a brown top leave it there to crisp, (or put some grated cheese on it0 god this is making me hungry.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

We do both reheating in the microwave for about 3 mins or putting in the oven with cheese on top for about half an hour.
A really good one though, is to defrost the mash, season it and stir an egg into it. Pop spoonfuls onto a buttered baking tray and cook in a medium oven until brown. You will need more than you think because everyone likes these. I suppose you could freeze them too, and have them individually, if you just cook them lightly the first time.0 -
My preferred way is to put the defrosted mash into a smallish saucepan - add a bit more milk and butter and heat it very slowly, stirring often. I've found that this way it comes out tasting just as good as if it was freshly made.

I nuke mine in the mircowave all the time and it's fine. Once hot enough I add a bit more butter etc.
I've not found that my mash "separates" when frozen though.......I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hi Andybez,
There's an earlier thread with hints and tips on reheating mashed potato so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.
