Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget

Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

    Afternoon budgeteers

I was green last week with £4 left in my purse at the end of Friday. I am going for £20 again next week.

I have updated results and pledges from last week's thread. Let me know if I have missed anything or if there are any more to add.

The week after next could get interesting as I have just found out I am going to Shanghai with work for a week. We get a company cc but as it is Amex it doesn't always get taken everywhere so I will need to pay stuff with my own cash and then claim it back which is a pain.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend it is sunny-dull here :p

  • Hey...
Can you put me down for £10 for this next week please? I've had a spendy week so need to cut back a bit.
Just off to update the other post with my final total for last week.

    Hello everyone!

Sorry I've been AWOL again, and thank you so much for the new thread pp... I've had another busy week, and I bought stuff for my room including a desk and chair and underbed storage bags for when I move...3 weeks today, woohoo! So I pretty much blew any budget ideas I had for last week hence never set a budget!

Anyway, I'm here now and I seriously need to get things under control, so I'd like to pledge £30 for this coming week. I hope to get nowhere near that, and it doesn't include cigs as I have separate money for them!

Tomorrow I was meant to be going to the zoo if it's nice which I really want to do, but I just don't think I can justify the £14 entry fee right now  I have friends coming over for dinner at 6pm as my parents are away for a couple of nights. Then the rest of the week I have nothing planned. However Thursdays have turned into a bit of a thing as a guy comes to work in our office from another site on Thursdays and Fridays and stays over, and me and another guy tend to hang out with him and get food after work. It's getting a bit expensive and I don't want to miss out, but I think I need to realign my priorities a bit in terms of spending. I know he wants to go for curry this week but I think for my purse and my waist I'm going to have to compromise and go for a drink after work but then be disciplined and leave them to it and come home and be good!!!

Hope everyone is well, I know I've not been around a lot, I just seem to have got so crazy busy and when I'm home I'm so tired... what a difference from a couple of months ago eh!

But I need to reign it in as I've gone a bit too far with being out all the time, and I only have 21 days to get everything packed up ready to move on the 2 June!

    Sorry for the HUMONGOUS post!

  • :DHi LC, nice to see you back...:j
And mandz, nice to see you on here as well:T

I've just been invited out shopping with a friend, for the first time in probably 6 months. I'd said no as I'd have to take ds with me, but she's just told me her hubby will take the kids to the park while we're out. :D
Suspect this may be budget blown on the first day.:o

Hello! I am back after a month or so. I need to control my spending for the next week and a half until pay day so please put me down for £10 this week - to cover the odd treat and an exercise class. Thanks guys. I've just been to the bank and my £10 is now safely in my purse :j

Wow, it's another gorgeous day here in Gloucestershire!

Hope everyone is feeling good, I think you can't beat the sunny weather to make you in a happy mood!

I've cancelled my zoo trip, so save money there, but need to decide what I'm doing for tea tonight for me and my two friends... thinking cap on! Also still deciding whether to take it from food budget or spending money, as chances are I'll have ingredients left over so I'm thinking food budget...any thoughts? I'm not going to do anything fancy, just know I'll probably need to buy a couple of abits to supplement what I already have in!

    Happy sunny Sunday all!

Last week was a lovely purple week :j

I'm not sure how this week is going to pan out as we are of to my parents for a few days and I have no idea what we are going to do whilst there, I guess the weather will influence our plans, bring on the sun shine. Next week I'm going for my usually £5, we will just have to see how it goes. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to report in as I will only have restricted access to the internet.
