You are really only paying the extra cash for the brand- in case people didn't know- well in fact I heard uggs, the main brand, don't actually use Australian sheepskin anyway, all from china. At least these Jumbuck ones say Australian on the label unlike the others that say china. Like I said, my main pair of sheepskin boots are not the UGG brand but are still going strong after 6 years & have just had a wee wash using the care kit stuff today ;)
  • My boots arrived today and they are lovely! I had the tassled short ones and I really love them, and a bargain with the ugg care kit which I have put aside for my Ugg mad sister for xmas, thanks OP!

No, sorry you are wrong. Where do you think the Jumbuck sheepskin comes from? Australia? Nope. China. The boots are MADE in Australia .. Unless you have got a pair of UGGS you will not realise how good they are. I would not make do with substitutions. Skechers etc. are just no comparison and UGGS are expensive for a reason. they last for years and years. Mine have been going now over 4 years, have no crushed heels, and still look like new and no-one is heavier on shoes than me. You have to think is it economical to buy say 4 pairs of cheap boots a year or one pair of expensive boots that will last 4 years? Now ... let me see. It's not rocket science .......:rotfl:

    hiya,

can i ask have you had any cheap ones that have done the crushed heel thing?

id love to "invest" in a pair of real uggs but would be gutted if they collapsed if its just because of the way i walk, if that makes sence,
i tried my sisters real uggs on ages ago, you can tell the difference.

    thanks claire.

Sketchers collapse at the heel quite badly. I brought two pairs and neither lasted a year. I got my UGGS from Office. They were in the sale. Cardi ones are only about 60ish anyway, but they will last you for years, if you want a cheap pair start with these and you will see what I mean. Mine have lasted years. Once you have worn a pair all day - that's it you are hooked! Hope that helps! :j
  • Yes, I'm wondering if purchasers are aware of how these Ugg boots are made?

Yes we are aware they are made of Sheepskin, not dogskin or any other animal skin. Sheepskin is a by product of meat farming and animals are not skinned alive to make a pair of real SHEEPSKIN boots.

    Thanks for your concern.

I did say I have UGGs as well as other sheepskin boots which are not that particular brand, but not necessarily cheaper. UGGs are not the only good quality sheepskin boots available, as others on here know. My 6 year old pair that are still going strong are not UGGs (as in "UGG Australia") and might have been a tad cheaper based on exchange rates etc. but the quality is not less than UGGs.
These Jumbucks seem just as good from the outset, obviously I have not had the time to wear them much yet but on comparison to other cheaper boots of these style they seem robust.

The label reads "Australian sheepskin", not Australian made so this is what leads me to believe it is Australian sheepskin, I make no inference to it.
I would see it as a generic version of the innovator goods such as with pharmaceuticals- same quality but no branding therefore lower pricing.
Clearly there are people who prefer the branded versions of things as they feel they are getting good quality as it is expensive, however you can get the same thing for a lot less if you are not bothered about the name on it (I am forever reading ingredient labels in Boots pharmacy and rarely buy the named branded products anymore).

This is my opinion, clearly, and as far as I can tell, I expect these boots to last until the soles gives out rather than the uppers. Just wanted to let people know that even if they are cheap, they are still good quality and actual sheepskin.

I found this thread quite interesting (about Ugg-alikes made from real sheepskin). They really seem to rate Whoogas and Celtic Sheepskin boots.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are good substitutes out there that aren't quite as well known!

PS: Of the Ugg-alikes that are a similar price, I really like Australia Luxe. They do some gorgeous, funky styles.
