I managed 68 twinks hobnobs last time and froze then in bags of 12 - they are just as good after freezing as when fresh - texture doesn't alter at all!

excellent, thanks! I normally half the amounts so i get 12, not 24, but next time i'll make the lot and freeze half.

Just made some and the smell is wafting through to the lounge...mmmm, must wait for them to cool!!
  • I am experimenting with JJ's herby cheese bread! I have got a gluten allergy and am lactose intolerant, so have made it with gluten-free self raising flour, soya spread and soya milk, with no cheese. It's in the oven as I type, will post back the results! Fingers crossed :D

Thumbs up! It's really nice. I added dried basil and Turkish red pepper (pul biber). The recipe was exactly the same, just replaced the dairy and flour for alternatives and it was great!

Going to have some made into garlic bread for dinner and then freeze the rest.

Hiya, just a quick pop in to say hi and that I now bake some twinks hobnobs on a sat morning when DH takes kids to football and then freeze them. I then take two out each day and they go in DS and DDs lunchboxes. They love them and prefer them to 'normal' biscuits.

Have to make them while they're out though otherwise they don't get frozen!

wow cleggie, that's a lot of sugary treats :D
I've never made twinks hobnobs but will be giving them a go next week, along with some flapjacks and, if I can come up with a cheap recipe, a bakewell tray bake.

Hmm, what's the cheapest form of sweetning things? Sugar or syrup?

    Thanks :)

I have made a spreadsheet today and in my usual fashion seemed to have over complicated things :rotfl:

I have an excel spreadsheet with the first few tabs/sheets dedicated to listing meals and the receipe location (book/folder/internet site). The tabs/sheets I have are Lunchs, Dinners, Indian food (we loooove Indian food ;)) and snacks/cakes
Then I have a sheet for next weeks meals lunches and dinners with a space to type any bits i need to buy
The idea being I can scan through my meal lists and come up with a plan from there based on what I have in etc

Told you it was complaicated- my head hurts lol

I tried to do it on the computer before, but I can never keep up with it, and then get cross with myself for a system I can't use! At least with paper on the fridge, the children can see it, and I can scribble on it to change things, and I can chuck it out (recycle it) when the week is done and start again. If I don't do it for a week, it's ok, I just start again!

NSD today, as I haven't left the house. Will be having something quick, easy and ood for dinner. Prob a packet of pasta and sauce stuff. Not the best stuff, but I tend to get them in for days when I don't have time to cook. Turns out, though, that I never use them! Can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing... Anyway, it needs using up, so that's what I'm having.

Tomorrow when the children are back with me, I shall let them choose what we have, between pasta bake, corned beef hash, and a few other things I can't decide on right now. Then, Saturday's meal will be dependent on what we have tomorrow.

Evening! I am a happy bunny today! Managed an NSD, in spite of a trip to town - no groceries bought today :D I did see a few bargains but am resisting until absolutely necessary. :) Have been painting the kitchen so much later in updating than normal.

savesummore - whatever works for you :) My own spreadsheet has 8 tabs complete with a price book tab so I can keep a track of the cost of the foods I buy over and over. :)Pennygrabber - I did use a notebook for a looooong time, but I get all weird if the meal changes and I have to cross it out and write above it. I like things to be weirdly neat, so every time I keep coming back to a spreadsheet :)Flo - your meal looks amazing :D Love Chinese ribs.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening

I've spent £14.18 in Asd@ on milk & things for my store cupboard, and we had spag bol from the freezer for dinner. I'm going to bung some pork in the slow cooker later ready to switch on before work tomorrow, with onions and carrots and sweet potato cos that's what needs using :)
Ooh I could make some of JJs herby bread to have with that, haven't tried it yet. I wonder if you can have the dough ready in the fridge to bake when it's needed? Has anyone done that?
