Hi guys.
Spent £12 on cat and dog food today, but didnt get round to doing our proper shop as i didnt want to be out of the house for too long.
I am not really eating much since the break in, so i havent spent much at all on food and have actually lost a few lbs as a result.
Every cloud has a silver lining i guess!

I've been feeling like I'm missing the point with DR for a while now. My boss recommended it once-upon-a-time and I took one look and figured "you don't pay me enough to shop there!":rotfl: I got a deal through the corporate groupon-style perks website that we have a couple of months ago so thought I'd give them a try. At the time we were using the combi bit of the microwave to do roast spuds and doing the sunday "roast" in the SC so I got pot roast joints. Have to say I wasn't overly impressed - just about worth the money post-deal but list price was  particularly given how small the portions are.
I've been wondering why so many folks on this thread make mention but I think I'm starting to get it. If you get in on good enough deals, I can see why people are going for it. There probably is an argument that its better quality but I don't have a discerning palate (or principles) when it comes to meat so I'll happily stick with cheaper SM meat.
I've never understood, when it comes to things like mince, sausages, etc why people consider different parts of the animal superior to other parts. Why is muscle deemed acceptable but organs are rubbish? In solid bits of meat there is a difference in taste and texture but minced up into sausage or whatever, as long as the taste and texture is acceptable, why does it matter which bits of the animal are used. In fact, surely its better to make use of the "offcuts" for these and leave the "quality" cuts for eating as steak, leading to less waste?0 -
Busy, busy day.
Productive in one way though. Managed to get the PERFECT golden anniversary parent for my luvvly folks :j :T
Chuffed to bits about it!!!
We had peashoot soup for tea and it was amazing. Truly scrumptious and clean, scraped bowls all around. I had 3 bags of whoopsied pea shoots from Ts at 18p a bag.
I sweated off loads of onions, fried off sliced potatoes. Covered with water. Simmered till potatoes were soft. Then added my peashoots as u was about to blitz them. Pretty much the exact same method as my watercress soup.
Plenty of salt n pepper.
Oh the pleasures of simple food. It was the first time I have ever used them and boy are they awesome. I could eat bowl fils of them with nothing else. The stems, leaves and tendrils taste exactly like freshly prodded peas!!!
WOW!
Would have taken pics but we wee famished when we got back in and it disappeared too quickly.
Ps, I have now been discharged with my eye. The infection has cleared up and the sight is returning. I have been reassured that if kept lubricated at all times, the cells will continue to heal and repair. :T

Hi
I hope everyone is ok, I have had a productive day, made some broccoli and Stilton soup, a new slow cooker recipe and some rice crispy cakes with the kids today
On the subject of Donald Russell - I only buy when discounted and when I can get free delivery. This way I find the prices comparable with sm luxury ranges and I am really impressed with the quality. You can ask for free bones to be sent with your order. I have some in the freezer waiting to be turned into stock.GC Mar 11 £437.08Apr 11 £459.26 May 11 £485.52 June 11 £423.79July 11 £409.22 Aug 11 £250.10Sept 11 £396.14Oct 11 £382.37Nov 11 £372.55Dec 11 £332.29 Jan 12 £375.19:Feb 12 £349.58Mar 12 £279.66Apr 12 £249.12May 12 £337.66/Jun 12 £362.58/Jul 12 £317.03/Aug 12 £354.02/Sept £439.72/Oct 12 £210.160
