Thanks. To be honest the guy seemed a bit of a jobsworth. He thought I had locked my PIN despite me reiterating I had used the card just before I went to the branch. I might try and go in again one Saturday when the branch manager is in. He dealt with my Advantage Gold application but he said at the time my card was non-cheque guarantee because the scheme was ending. I get on well with the branch manager as we have a mutual friend (a colleague of mine who's a friend of his too).

Not if you keep more than one contactless card in your wallet. They cancel each other out.
Is this correct that having two contactless cards in a wallet will make them both not work?
Or are you referring to the clone scam?

  • I bank with Natwest, rang my up a week ago and got a contactless card sent. I work at a Co-Operative Food, and the whole company has started moving over to accept contactless payments to speed up the tills, so as I use there tills many times a day, thought I might aswell go with the switch.

I just rung up Natwest, told them I would like to apply for a contactless debit card. The guy took my details, filled out a form he said, and then said I would receive it in 4-5 working days, I would have the same PIN and that my current card would expire in 4-6 weeks!

    Must say I'm very impressed!

Only been with Natwest since December so thought perhaps I couldn't get one due to that, I just have their normal current account.

What did they ask when you phoned up? Did they ask for your current card details and what do you have to fill out on the form if you remember? Thank you

I personally think NatWest should ensure ALL of their staff are properly trained as to what debit cards are offered by the bank.

When I was in the bank last Saturday, I asked the member of staff about my card (I have the blue, full auth card  ) and mentioned how I can't use my card on trains or at pay@pump. I even quoted what NatWest's own literature states about cards that start 4751 27 or 28. He claimed I have the "best card on offer", despite the screen stating it was a full auth. Very unimpressed. :wall:

"Best card on offer" based on your account conduct/credit rating is probably what they meant.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Wow you're looking at an entry I made a long long time ago. lol Things have changed a lot since I wrote that. I hold two purple debit cards (I have two accounts with NatWest), one of which is contactless. All's good with my financial health and no problems with NatWest.:money:
