Natwest contact less debit card... Want one

Be warned, using an Android mobile with a 'near-field identity chip' and some freely-available software it is possible to read all the details off such cards and then use the details to go on a spending-spree on the net as not all sites (thinking of Amazon here) only require the long number and expiry date and not the 3 digit security number on the reverse.
They demonstrated this quite well on 'Watchdog'.Never Knowingly Understood.

Not if you keep more than one contactless card in your wallet. They cancel each other out.0

Received my contactless debit card from Natwest today. I'm not in London and got it by asking for it

I also had my lloyds contactless drop through the door today and already have the Barclays contactless and never used maybe once at Mcd's so don't get to excited.0

I just rung up Natwest, told them I would like to apply for a contactless debit card. The guy took my details, filled out a form he said, and then said I would receive it in 4-5 working days, I would have the same PIN and that my current card would expire in 4-6 weeks!
Must say I'm very impressed!
Only been with Natwest since December so thought perhaps I couldn't get one due to that, I just have their normal current account.SwagBucks Challenge: 402/849

That's the main problem with these in my opinion - a very noticeable lack of retailers taking them. Unless you really, really like fast food you'll be hard pressed to find any use for them at the moment.
Can't wait for them to be installed in places like Tesco. Contactless purchases are much, much quicker than chip and PIN - it will have a noticeable impact on queues, especially at self-checkouts.urs sinserly,

Several major chains are beginning to roll out contactless trials now. ASDA, Sainsburys and WH Smith are - but I wouldn't imagine it will take off in a big way until at least next year.0 -

Customers in London will automatically get one however anyone else in any part of the country can have one on request providing they have an offline debit card.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I personally think NatWest should ensure ALL of their staff are properly trained as to what debit cards are offered by the bank.
When I was in the bank last Saturday, I asked the member of staff about my card (I have the blue, full auth card  ) and mentioned how I can't use my card on trains or at pay@pump. I even quoted what NatWest's own literature states about cards that start 4751 27 or 28. He claimed I have the "best card on offer", despite the screen stating it was a full auth. Very unimpressed. :wall:
