If it is your fence why don't you just replace it?
Just dip your hands in your deep pocket and have it replaced.
What next...oh! that glass has broken in that side window, never mind i don't look out of it i'll just board it up!
Oh! some !!!!! has dumped rubbish in my front garden, never mind i only use the back garden,i'll leave it.
I haven't responded yet, but it seems to me that, although it may be my fence, if they get a dog, it is up to THEM to confine it to their own garden. I don't see why I should pay for it!
Perhaps if it is your fence you should pay for it.
It is not strictly relevant I suppose, but the neighbours are also MUCH wealthier than we are!
I would say it is totally relevant,it is showing you up for what you are,so you have 2 houses then,my heart bleeds for somebody so 'badly off'.
You must be a real delight at the pub when it comes to round buying :rotfl:
I've no idea what your problem is, but I imagine its very difficult to pronounce.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
The OP owns a house (if not 2), owns (possibly) a damaged fence and when the neighbour (who might be better off than the OP) asks for it to be repaired,OP doesn't want to replace it.I've no idea what your problem is, but I imagine its very difficult to pronounce.
How would you feel having a neighbour like that? :TLose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
That might well be the 'law' but, have you ever heard of being a good neighbour? There are very very few occasions where a landowner is obliged to provide a fence.
Unless your house deeds say otherwise, it's unlikely that you will have to pay for a fence.
If they want a fence then it's up to them to ensure that one is there, not you.Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0 -
Ah, you're the LL, the fence is yours. Yes/no?
The neighbour's have asked you to repair the fence because they are getting a dog.
I would imagine that having good neighbours when renting your property out is a good thing? yes/no?I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

Thats an interesting one. Got a link?
Cheers
It's standard Landlord and Tenant law. Unless specifically stated otherwise in the agreement, the tenant is responsible for the garden, fences/walls, sheds, paving (unless a main access path) and the stuff growing in it.
I have not read the tree thread as it seemed a bit of a squabble0 -
Well, it seems like I might be on my own here!
It was the OP's tree that damaged the OP's fence therefore legally the OP has to do exactly nowt to remedy the situation. However, in the interests of good neighbour relations (ie should the OP wish to sell in the future, and/or ensure there are no potential boundary disputes) I would most certainly replace the fence. It wouldn't have to be too costly.
Of course should the neighbours dog damage the said new fence.....0 -
Its up to the owner of a dog to control it and stop it causing a nusiance. If they want a fence its their responsibility to erect it unless your deeds require you to have one.
Personally I would put a fence up if its just one panel and the rest is OK but its your choice.
If the neighbours are being obnoxious leave it a few months and see what they do about it, or erect one and paint their side some lurid colour!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Ah thanks. So my edit of perhaps comes under garden maintenance wasn't that far off the mark.iamcornholio wrote: »It's standard Landlord and Tenant law. Developed that way and became rather circular too.I have not read the tree thread as it seemed a bit of a squabble

Whilst I do agree that it is the responsibility of a dog owner to fence in his/her own dog/property, if it is your boundary mark it out with a line fence or anything to avoid boundary disputes in the future,
;) I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
