Slow Cooker vs Football

Comments

  • Going to the football is my only luxury/social activity until I'm debt free, however, buying my slow cooker & cooking large batches of food enabled me to save enough over the year to renew my season ticket which in turn saves me £120 over what I would have to pay match by match. ;)

Can anyone tell me how this works...

OH emails me at work the other day to ask if we think we can manage on £340 for the whole month, in order to try and crack the overdraft. I replied I thought it might be difficult, but worth a try, and did this include his football?

Apaprently not. So tonight, while I am home fiddling about with numbers and chatting to you lot, he's at Arsenal with his £50 ticket and dinner with the boss, the second (out of 4) mid week games he's got this month. (Each one costs a minimum of £20)

So, we're talking about a slow cooker (having spent time reading Martin's "thrifty" book, and reading the OS threads) but guess what? We can't afford one!!!!!!!!!!

    ARGH!!!!!

    Men

Ahhhhh....despite being an Arsenal season-ticket holder, I can actually sympathise here. But men have funny priorities - my OH is the same. I gave up my Champions League ticket tonight so I could get a few quid back in the kitty for our house move (just as well cos we lost)......so then he informs me that he's just spent £180 on some car part cos "it''ll look dead cool".

Slow cooker? I'd like to slow-roast him at times!

OP - go and treat yourself to something he doesn't understand, just to point out the error of his ways. A funky handbag....those cute boots you've been admiring....it may blow the budget, but you certainly deserve it!

At least when he's at the match he's not getting under your feet.

Take advantage of the peace and quiet to get the ironing done :)

The funny (?) thing is, he doesn't even support Arsenal :) He's a Luton fan!!! He only went because he's never going to see Champion's League football at Kenilworth Road!

Still, apparently he had a good time, so I suppose that's what counts :)

Oh dear, I'm an Arsenal fan who lives in a (better) town next to Luton. The plot thickens!
