Slow Cooker vs Football

Can anyone tell me how this works...

OH emails me at work the other day to ask if we think we can manage on £340 for the whole month, in order to try and crack the overdraft. I replied I thought it might be difficult, but worth a try, and did this include his football?

Apaprently not. So tonight, while I am home fiddling about with numbers and chatting to you lot, he's at Arsenal with his £50 ticket and dinner with the boss, the second (out of 4) mid week games he's got this month. (Each one costs a minimum of £20)

So, we're talking about a slow cooker (having spent time reading Martin's "thrifty" book, and reading the OS threads) but guess what? We can't afford one!!!!!!!!!!

ARGH!!!!!

Men

I would sympathise, but I'm watching it on TV, having gone to Saturday's game ;)

Could he not watch the footy on the tv?? Ok, I realise it's not the same as actually being there but it would be a hell of a lot cheaper, and then you'd could afford your slow cooker? We got a brilliant set from Comet I think - slow cooker and a rice cooker in the same box for £40. bargain! I can't cook rice to save my life, so it's wonderful not needing a knife to cut a lump of rice free! And the slow cooker is good for doing curries, soups, stews etc etc.

You're being a lot more tolerant than I would be. :)

That seems so unfair. You have my sympathies!

If he's at football he's not eating at home so need for a slow cooker. :rotfl:

Come on lads, back me up here.

Didnt you know that any money saving stops where men and football are concerned ;)

so ok then he gets his football this month and you get to reduce your overdraft and then next month its your turn :D thats only fair isnt it ?

have you tried freecycle for a slow cooker ? that is after you have stopped making your OH suffer :p

Sound perfectly fair to me :) I don't see how a reasonable person can argue with that ;)

I've not been to a game all season for my club, and the tickets are only 15 quid a go.......Only game i've been to is the Ladies Premier League Cup final last weekend, and that cost me absolutely nothing!! (Arsenal did win that! ;) )

I prefer to listen to football on the radio, then I can paint my own pictures in my brain! Admittedly I do have $$$ky as well, but have been known to turn the volume off on the telly, and listen to the radio commentary instead!
