...unbelievable that after Y2K and the millions spent to avoid a worldwide catastrophe, with very few issues in the end, a simple thing like the clocks going forward affects most of one banks UK ATM network.
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...

Don't know if this was posted but here we go

Barclays Bank has apologised for a computer meltdown on Sunday which left millions of customers without cash.

"It was a technical problem with the system in the south of England and we're terribly sorry it happened," said bank spokesman Alistair Smith.

The bank said an investigation revealed the problem had nothing to do with the change over to British Summer Time.

It said its cash machines, phone and internet banking services are now back to normal following the breakdown.

About 1,500 cash machines were affected by the glitch.

Customers were unable to withdraw money from hole-in-the-wall machines and Link ATMs, or to use telephone and internet banking.

Barclays said there was no impact on security - only on "accessibility for people to their own accounts".

The problem of the ATMs was solved by 1600 BST on Sunday, although internet banking still remained affected.

Sorry to hear of your porblems, I woudl be angry if I was in your shoes.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

I am in Spain at the moment and also tried to get cash from an ATM on Sunday using my Barclays connect card. It was declined in 2 machines and I was too scared to try again in case the card was eaten. I also phoned the lost/stolen cards bit but was not told the real reason just that Barclays had not put a stop on my card. Obviously cashback in a shop was not an option and we had a pretty lean day!!
I e-mailed Barclays but as yet have had no response

I have had a reply to my original e-mail promising me a response within 5 working days.
Weather here in Spain is stunning by the way. 26C here in my little corner. Birds are singing, the orange and lemon trees are in blossom, in fact all's right with the world

    SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT

You will not believe what I am about to tell you. I have in my hands 3 tickets to chessington world of adventures, courtesy of Barclays Bank. And I am £25 richer in my current account  :D

Can you believe it. Mr Varley the chief exec and his presonal assistant of Barclays has redeemed the company in my eyes. SO much so they deserve a mention on the 5 star service board

    Well done Divadee :T

I did a search on the Daily Mail site trying to find your staring moment and I came across THIS, which I had forgotten about, looks like Barclays have a bit of a habit of upsetting there customers over Easter.
