This thread scares me a bit as I have yet to do anything! Getting married October 2015 and currently looking at venues with the hope of getting one booked before this October (I thought a year in advance would be sufficient as we're looking at non-traditional venues for the reception).

Those of you that already have bridesmaid dresses- have your bridesmaids always been a similar size? I want to get mine as late as possible as one of my bridesmaids is trying to lose weight and another fluctuates in size. I was going to get my dress 6 months before so I'll probably sort theirs out then- but maybe that's leaving it a bit last minute, especially as I'll be having them all made to measure.
  • Hi Fuzzy - Don't worry you're still in plenty of time for booking. I think the reason we had to book so much in advance is that we're in prime wedding season with our date. Middle of summer on a Saturday!

My bridesmaids are pretty steady in terms of their dres size. They don't alter much and if they do fluctuate it's only really by half a stone or so so although the dress might be a bit tighter/looser than when they tried it on it should still fit! I'm not having them made to measure though - they're just standard off the peg sizing for my two
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

Wow invites Your so organized lol,

Im having a nightmare with invites!!!
Im getting married in a castle looking priory, and I am saying my I Dos at the top of the bell tower which means we can only have 65 people attend the ceremoniay, so I have said family only to the day and friends at night, however i have had an old friend being really nasty that they thought we where good friends and will never forgive me if they are not at the daytime?
Who does that!!! I havent seen her in over 8 years and she has never met HTB
Am I alone in in this? or are other people getting invention issues?

I am so excited about the wedding so I have decided not to invite her at all.
What about everyone else, how do you deal with the hic-ups politely lol

    x

I didn't deal with any hiccups politely lol I had a fit to begin with when I had family and work colleagues being rude about it. We got told after deciding who we wanted to invite that we had to invite family over from Germany who no one has ever seen in about 10 years etc etc and with all the nastyness I got from family who said I was booking things too early for jan ( we started organising December just gone) I now only discuss with my oh and bridesmaids and one really good friend :) just do,what you want to do, I'm not backing down from what I,want now but wish I'd've thought like that before hand instead of sitting getting upset. If they are really your friend it shouldn't matter if they are at the day or night especially if it's family only to the day they should understand and feel honoured to even be invited at all xxx
    Debt free finally :j

Thanks that's reasurring :) We're going for a Friday so hopefully that will help as well.

Originally I was planning to buy off the peg ones too but I have some concerns about fit. I think anything I buy will have to be altered anyway so if I can afford it, I'd probably be better off having them made to measure.

I have decided to go a little bit bridezilla ha ha ha, I sent her a message today saying all my good friends said do what you want and we will join you at the after party and she was clearly not a true friend to act like this.

Ive started looking at my guests like the are ££££££££ as in would I pay £200 for you to eat a meal in the same restaurant as me even if we are not at the same table, its become easier to cut people lol.

So whens the best time to start buying all the small trimmings?
and what about invites is it about 6 months before they go out?

    So down to important stuff.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR YOUR HEN DOs?
just looking at different ideas and wondered if anyone else is thought of stuff yet?

I want to do something a bit different so was looking at something like a Zombie run experience type thing or abseiling or I dunno - Just something memorable that isn't lurid cocktails, crap shopts and an L plate stuck to my shirt.
