I would also like to add that their IPA (identity protection alert) far outclasses most other availiable products in the field, so you may wish to take a look at that!

£29 used to be the fee for three years, had gone up to £44 when I renewed in Jun 06.

I could make the phone calls myself but the added advantage of the key fobs, which can be posted back to them free if you lose them, is what keeps me with them.

Posted back in Jan, so may not still be open (work are blocking access to the nectar website so can't check from here):

Anything else they offer as a benefit?

This happens whether you have this cover or not. It's a requirement on the card issuers; not something extra you get for having the cover.

Colour me cynical, but if you do all the (minimal) legwork yourself, you can save an extra £70.

This is something I have always wondered about. I have had this type of insurance for a few years now and its up for renewal in September. Just to be sure (and silence any worry beads I have) even if I don't have this type of cover and my cards get stolen, it is the bank/card company who is responsible for any fraudulent use and not me?

You will probably find that if ever you end up disputing a transaction or transactions where your PIN was used before you report your card lost or stolen, then the CCP people will come down on the side of your card issuer. They wont cough up.

    Just ask them.

You can opt for Chip & Signature Credit Cards, then you don't have to worry too much about liability shift.

You can do the keys thing yourself. Simply put a tag on with your address and a note asking the finder to pop them in the post box.

As no postage has been paid (I'm assuming that you don't have a freepost address for your house) they will be sent to your local sorting/delivery office and you will get a card through the door asking you to collect them and pay the postage. Pretty sure that the postage on a set of keys is going to be less than £29.

    Address tag on key ring.

In an ideal world you're right. The other side of the coin is, here's my keys, here's my address. The doors now open and the house empty.

Had my car pinched 2 years ago, house keys in the glove compartment. Advice from the police - change your locks ASAP.

I noticed the following note in the Sentinel Card Protection key facts:

"Our fees for advising on and arranging your insurance cover are included in the overall fee of £20 for the 1 year policy/£50 for the 3 year policy which is payable in advance and of which an annual insurance element of £1.40 for the annual policy/£3.50 for the 3 year policy (inclusive of insurance premium tax) is payable to Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc. The remainder constitutes the fees payable to us in relation to any and all other services provided to you by Sentinel."

So this seems to say that the actual insurance costs £1.40 per year and the remaining £18.60 is administration costs and profit. Seems like a good business to me!

This is a joke post, right?

I've got CPP, and yes, although maybe it doesn't give you anything you can't get for free elsewhere, it does give peace of mind (to me at least). Also, last time I moved, the sorted passing on my new address to all my card providers, which saved me a job. As other posters have said, it's up to the individual whether the cover is worth the cost.

My wife lost her keys in a department store 70 miles from home. She didnt miss them until CPP rang up several hours later saying they had been handed in. We were off again the next day and CPP had them delivered to next door (our request). Any insurance is worth it if you have to claim. If you dont have to it is a waste of money.

I have renewed for another 3 years.
