Sorry to hear your sad news.
I still remember the first few days after we lost our dog. Little things like the doorbell ringing and no bark, nobody running to the door to greet me and the space where the food and water bowls were.
It's hard but it does get easier.
    RIP Rusty.

Thanks for all the replies guys, does help a bit.

Was horrible last night going to bed without him. Same this morning getting up and not seeing him flaked out anywhere, my OH got upset when he couldn't find him.

I have made it worse by clearing out all rusty's dog food and bowls and bedding. Will bring back in the house a tin of food and one of his beds for now, until things gea bit easier.

I was supposed to be away with work for the next few days, have cancelled it, but have got in trouble for doing so, as didn't think I could drive 6 hours in this state and didn't want to leave OH in an empty house. Boy is the house empty. The only rooms Rusty wouldn't get into were the 2 bathrooms and that is only because they were tiled and he was like he was on dancing on ice ! lol

Just going to take one day at a time. Wo betide anyone who says to me ''it was only a dog'' He was my baby, I have no kids, godsons and nephews yes, but not one with you 24/7.

Anyway enough for now. I have tried to post a pic on here, it has let me do it before, but I can't figure out how to at the moment.

Once again, thanks for the lovely posts, Things will get better, just so hard at the mo.

  • Awwww hun (((hugs))) so sorry for the loss of Rusty - it really is the most devastating experience (I'm sure I'm not the only one that is slightly embarrassed to say that I've found the loss of a much loved pet harder to deal with than the passing of a human relative/friend).

What a wonderful long life he had with you and hopefully in time you'll be able to remember all the times he made you smile.

RIP Rusty, play hard with your new pals xx

Sorry to hear about him, may he rest in peace <3

Animals are part of the family, anyone who has had pets will understand. Losing one is as much a loss as any other part of your life and it does take time. I still cry 3 years on about my old dog Meg.
