Look, with no disrespect I think you need to leave a little of the emotion out of it and do what needs to be done.

From what you say the damage is done and the tree is as good as dead, you have that from the tree chaps.
Your neighbour is a "very nice man", in which case he will realise his responsibilities and have the tree removed safely.
Your neighbour isn't a very nice man, again from your account, but you don't have proof that he damaged the tree and he probably will stay put in his house as long as you do in yours.

This should put an end to it. If it does escalate, or you feel threatened, (he hasn't actually harmed anyone just alegedly the tree), then of course you must take it further but a cctv overlooking the garden should be at least some deterent to any unorthorised visits.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Don't know what you mean. What makes me sick is someone jumping through the fence while my child might be there.
Basically you have a problem involving a neighbour and a tree. You have made a right meal of it and got yourself in a right state when all the time it is a problem for your Landlord to sort out.

And now, you seem to be playing the pea dophile card. It is a cheap trick on your part. And unfortunately, like the boy who cried wolf, the risk is that if your child is at risk from a real pea do, no one will take any notice of you. I bet that not 1 in 20 of the people who are ever accused of being pea dos are actually pea dos.

@DVardysShadow: if you actually try and read my posts you would have understood i do not accuse my neighbour of any such actions neither have i called him names. So, please, stop, telling me what you think i think. No hard feelings.

@cyclonebri1: He never denied doing it, he even discussed it with neighbours and the tree people, but yes, no hard evidence.

Thank you everyone who gave their thoughts i really appreciate it. Until i know what will happen i will not be visiting this page.
    Thank you!

I still think you were implying he is a pea do. But you are welcome to tie your self in a knot trying to explain this away:

@OP I can understand that this isn't what you wanted and you're afraid of your child getting injured if anything does happen. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't see where you're coming from, maybe you've not explained your point in the right way.

Since technically this is between your neighbour and your landlord, you don't have much say in it. How does your landlord feel about the tree being cut down to the state it is in now? Did your landlord agree to this (if not with you, did he speak to your neighbour)?

If your landlord didn't agree to it, he needs to sort it out.

If your landlord agreed to it, your neighbour is in the clear. You'll then need to explain to your landlord to remove the remaining part of the tree in order to make it safe for your child.

Just my opinion, hope it helps.

I can see where your coming from about your child getting hurt if the tree should fall if he was playing outside.
I would just get onto your LL to ask why the tree was left in the state it is and if they intend on coming back to finish the job.

I can also see why you wouldn't want your neighbour trespassing into your garden after all it is your own personal space, it's not a nice feeling when someone has been snooping around your property and although his sole intention was probably to do something to the tree, you don't know if he has been snooping around, looking through the windows .... whatever.

I think that is something that you need to discuss with your neighbour though. xxx

This will have killed the tree, but I would suggest it is unlikely to fall over.
