    Morning All - well just!!!
    Welcome Hulda!
Had fabulous weekend away with choir, singing in Germany, but still recovering now as it was all somewhat hectic! Feeling both pleased with myself and somewhat cross as I made two dogbed covers yesterday in less than 20 minutes from leftover material---pleased for gettig them done, cross because I've been putting it off for weeks on the grounds of lack of time!!!
Housework pretty much under control just at the moment so that's a bonus too.
Just wish I could dry the washing without resorting to the drier, but if I don't there'll just be piles of damp clothes everywhere.
have done some church paperwork today so not too much OS. Teaching later followed by evening meeting. All go here!
Hope you are all OK - feel a bit out of touch just now, so ((HUGS)) to anyone who needs one.
    Take care!

I've been up since quite early (Dylan's breakfast time is 06:00) but made myself do some vital tasks before logging on, in case I feel too grotty later, as I'm seeing the physio-terrorist this afternoon.

Veggie lasagne is in the oven as I type; Mr LW is wfh today, so dins will be at 12:00 (ie in a few mins);)

Welcome Hulda - I see you spoke of $ - where are you?:o

Gotta go - hungry hubby shortly going to log off his work laptop.;)

    Back again!

hi Tappers I usually make a root vegetable stew in a big pot on the cooker with added onions or leeks. Whatever root veg you fancy actually. I chop it all up into chunks but leave the potatoes a bit bigger otherwise they can go to mush. Experiment..... I use marigold stock and mixed herbs but not usually tomatoes.

When the veggies are nearly cooked I throw in baked beans or butterbeans, a bit of tomato ketchup, then add dumplings(I use a mix as I don't use a lot of suet). Put the lid back on and simmer for twenty mins. I thicken with veg gravy granules if necessary.

We aren't vegetarians so you might have to look at veggie dumplings. Sometimes I use casserole mixes from Mr M and add parsnips and turnips to save loads of chopping. Or I get OH to chop the veg as he loooves this.

If I am being very frugal this can go two days, just add extra beans. Sometimes I add curry pwder the next day....

Hope you like this. OH certainly does.

    Afternoon everybody,

Quite a nice day here today :j.I went to town early as DS was going in so grabbed a lift-saved me £4.50 on the bus.The dog got short rations for his walk as DS wanted to go,so he's just been out again.I've rung the vet today to make an appt for his booster, and also for them to take a look at a lump he has on his side. Its been there for years(fatty lump) but has got quite a bit bigger recently so need it checking.I was gutted to find out the vet we usually see has retired,as she always liked our big lad,(and the one before him)and we liked her.I would have sent a card if I'd known.

Needed some bias binding to finish off another dress for DGD,there's a good shop on the edge of the market, bought some cotton fabric off my usual stall too,£3 very reasonable.Walked through the food bit too and got some chicken (so we'll have that for tea),and some cheese from a lovely stall.

The menfolk are out for the day tomorrow,DS2 bought one of those driving experience days for them all for Xmas.Hope it might cheer up DS1 as he split up with his Gf last week and is a bit down in the dumps. So I shall have a day to myself, nice and peaceful, though they will all have to be up very early.

Right off to finish the dress-catch up later xx

  • Afternoon all, new and old! (still a relative newbie m'self!)

Had a lovely 2 days off with OH as was working fri night and all sat, so actually feel like i've still had a weekend off.

Lapsing slightly with OS so need a little kick up the behind to get me back on it. Form an orderly queue please! :D

Made a seeded brown loaf last night and just had it with tinned mackeral for lunch. Tea will prob b fish fingers & chips - having lots of tummy troubles with suspected IBS at the min so just booked an appt with quacks for next mon, having to keep a food diary too. Bit fed up with it all really :(

Hubby off next week so started a little list of free things that he can do around the house. Not that I expect many of them to be done but never mind.

My friend is giving me a Jubilee Hanging basket this afternoon so i cant wait to put that up when I get home, haven't a clue how to look after it though.

Tonight I have a date with McDreamy & Co as just got hold of Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy (i'm very behind the rest of the UK as Season 8 is on sky!) OH is out at ju-jitszu tonight so really looking forward to a DVD sesh on my own.

OS - I pledge to clean bathrooms & put another load of washing in ready to go on the airer.

    Have a good day y'all!

    afternoon all

welcome hulda, everyone is so friendly here. ive not been here long but i really miss it if i dont pop on. its just proof that there are people out there like me. i like to cook from scratch. im short of money and always making it stretch a bit more but rely on what i can make rather than what i can get ready made. my freezer is full of hm ready made meals - ie 1 portion of this and 1 portion of that. i loooooove to hear what other people are eating/doing and this gives me inspiration. so hulda i look forward to what you have to say.
got tuna pasta today and rice pudding for afters. have not put it in early enough tho... i normally cook it on 120 or in the sc for about 4 hours and today i only have 2 hrs to cook it as im working tonight. got some bread which has just come out and will give everyone a chunk of that. hubbie just offered to do a roast chicken for tea tomorrow - thanks for that. day off again for me. then depending on whats left it will either be chicken slice or chick soup. hoping its chicken slice as the kids hate soup!!
well better get on. as im working and have been working this morning so need to hoover upstairs.
have a good afternoon all

    Good Afternoon All

    Hello & welcome Newbies

Late posting for me as been good today and no internet surfing till I made some headway in the office. Only did the essentials each day last week so loads to catch up on.

Have been in here on and off since 7am and got a lot done. Just about to jump in the bath with a book.

Have to admit to no cooking today, DS finishing school later today so will miss the bus and this is DD's late day so will need to pop into another village for different pickups, 4.30 one and 6.30 the other. This village is 20 mins away so am being very naughty and getting a MD's

However, have menu planned for the rest of the week and have Asda delivering the shopping first thing tomorrow morning.

Weather today is drizzle on and off, can't wait for a dry day.

    Have a great day all.x

    Afternoon All

It was raining this morning but has cheered up now so the washing has gone on the line for a while. Had put some on the airers but DD got called into work at the last minute so I would imagine the drier has been on!

Welcome to Hulda, lots of chat and tips here to keep you going.

Work was busy today, I have a meeting on Friday with my boss and someone from HR, the boss gave me a stress health form to fill in - I have never said I was stressed so I don't know where that has come from, I think I will give it back and say its not applicable?

House not too bad, not too much ironing so will leave that for another day. May go to the cinema tonight as it's cheap Tuesday.

    Take care. XX
