Retentions is the name of the department at TT who handle cancellations. They do this (like many other ISPs) to try and persuade customers to stay ... Retentions are the only ones who can make seriously good offers to existing customers - Sales can only so do to new customers.

TT Retentions phone number is 0870 444 1820.

    Thank you!

You can request a MAC anytime, then you have 30 days within which to find another ISP, you only cancel when you have sorted

I will tell him indoors to get his finger out and get rid of that line! Thanks!

Don't bother hearing their offer. I lived on Skye so know how rubbish broadband can be, but had Plusnet while there and they provided a consistent if not slow service. We were 2nd to last house on exchange and got about 1.5 Meg on a good day. My FIL still uses the connection to Skype us a few times a week. The basic package cost about 12 pound a month and the extra package cost 17, although these may gone up. Anyway, still cheaper than TT with UK call centres.

16MB! You sync at around 128 mbps?

Guess I'll just have to make do with my 18.5 mbps with BE. ;)

...And I agree, their customer service stinks. It's consistent....consistently terrible :) and a lottery whether you'll get someone useless or knowledgeable.

If I can, I ask my questions on the Talktalk forums or on here. http://talktalkmembers.net/forums/ (though I'm sure you know it already).

Fancy that! I live on Eilean a' Cheò ! We've had Broadband since around 2006, originally with tiscali, and we've always been quite happy with it. We're probably about 3 miles from the Kyle exchange.

It's only been in the past 2 weeks that the download has been so bad we just can't watch anything on youtube, 4OD, etc. We're going to give the connections a check over at the weekend. We're managing to talk via gmail chat/video with our son in Oz at the weekends, it's just streaming videos which has become a problem. :o

IMHO the indication of whether they offer you a better deal or not depends on if you are connected to an LLU exchange, if your exchange is small with no LLU they are not so keen to keep you. :)

That's another problem. I've tried twice to register for the new forum which became live on 8/5/12 but neither my TT tel number or account number was recognised! I filled in the form the first time and the email I got back said I should complete my TT tel number and account number....... aaagh! Tried again last night but same thing.

    Sod it!

Hi folks, out of curiosity when TT hike up the prices (of phone and broadband) does that mean that if we are in contract we can leave without penalty? I think that a change in terms has to be agreed by both parties?

I too am annoyed by meagre speeds and drops in streaming TV (only way we watch TV) and downloading content (for games). Seeing that other companies offer better packages that are cheaper (such as BT infinity) this would be ideal if we could get out.

So letter sent off and reply was "well we can change our prices and if you move you will pay termination fees" no recognition of the 10 day review period as agreed on this forum (trying to find post where they confirm it). As an order was placed AFTER the letter REJECTING the change was delivered. They seem to think that they can charge the ETF

TT customers aren't charged for calls to TT 0870 numbers from their own landline. ;)
Yes they are, my calls to TT Finance's 0870 as billing was not sorting issues were charged.
To top it off calls to 195 Directory Enquiries were charged at £0.00 then the next line stated the same call was charged at £1.42 !
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Ah. Calls to Customer Services are included.

    http://help.talktalk.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/2064?utype=talktalk

I think it's a bit naughty for them to charge customers to call TT for other matters.
