I'll take a look at the BT offers - but we don't have a Sainsbury anywhere near where I live but I could always sell the voucher on ebay?!!
    I don't drink, don't smoke, don't go out - why aren't I rich?
    Don't worry, I'm working on it! :p

Well of course the deal is good even without the voucher!

My BT BB service does not start until Friday so don't know much about it yet but one bonus is that the help line is an 0800 number and I understand it's now UK based. :)

I phoned customer services this evening and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The call was answered in about 2 minutes. I explained the query about the price hike and was passed over to their Loyalty Department (probably the guy in the next seat). This fellow was very pleasant but - unfortunately - I had great difficulty understanding his accent.

However, I think he said that I would get free Broadband for the next 3 months after which I should phone them again to see what deals they could offer me. I also think he said that during this time I wasn't under contract. But I could be wrong!

I then mentioned that I was experiencing poor broadband service anyway - which had prompted my complaint about the price hike. He said he would pass me to their technical department. Great.

But what he actually did was pass me onto a survey where I had to answer 3 simple questions and, instead of being passed to their technical department, the line went dead!

So, I will use this time to see about transferring to another ISP. One with a technical department with native English speakers would be excellent.

Be careful about accepting a 3 month free package unless you get something in writing in case they tie you up in a new contract.

In my case the £5 per month off for 3 months was conditional in accepting an 18 month contract!

Thanks, Nilrem. I'll email them today to ask them to clarify the offer I was given last night.

I would phone them but I spoke to 3 different people last night and had to keep asking them to repeat what they said because I couldn't understand what they said.

But then, it was an 0870 number so it's probably part of a cunning plan by TT to ensure callers are on twice as long as they would be normally!

    :)

TT customers aren't charged for calls to TT 0870 numbers from their own landline. ;)

My TT line is for Broadband only - I don't use it for calls. We use our other one which is BT.

You have two telephone lines? One for business and one for personal use, are both necessary, you could save a shed load by just having the one?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Yes, my husband had the second line installed over 5 yrs ago when he tried to set up a business. Unfortunately, the business suffered from the economy and he hasn't had any serious enquiries for about 2 years! Lost count of the number of times I've suggested he gives up the phone line but it falls on deaf ears!

Think I feel another nag coming on! He has a low-paid cleaning job to try and help make ends meet but he doesn't recognise the benefits of shedding the unnecessary outgoings!

But today he finally cancelled the TV licence which, considering we haven't had a TV in the house for over 18 months, is something of a success! :T
