"If you are in debt you should put your pets to sleep"

She probably thrives on upsetting people like you.
Ignore her. That'll upset her more than any anger or your distress, as she's just an older version of the toddler who shouts 'willies and bums!' in the middle of the supermarket.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

She has proclaimed that she hates animals and has no shame in saying this.
I work in finance, we were training a week ago and we all went out to 'shadow' and listen to other live calls with real customers/debtors. We all had to come back into the training room to talk about what we each heard on the calls. I advised that I listened to a call where SOA was ran through, a woman had two pets and out of work. One of the dogs needed medication that cost for about £28.00 per fortnight.
She shouted out in the training room "It only takes one needle!!":eek::eek:
I am still shocked by this comment!
Someone else said that they do not understand why people keep getting pregnant knowing full well they are in debt, then the animal hater piped up saying "Accidents happen" (she is a single mother herself) imagine if something was said that was tasteless and lacked tact?
What do you think?
I think your friends a fu:mad:ng idiot!...Your friends a single mother, better tell her to go & get sterilised, that way she can't breed any more children, hopefully her current brats won't grow up as stupid as she is,she needs a long hard look at herself in the mirror before she judges other people.
Anyway, she's probably a single parent as the father couldn't put up with her bull:mad: anymore...
I ran up a bill of £280 when my Orbit Mog was ill & I was on the dole, the PDSA were more trouble than they were worth & I paid off Orbits bill at £25 a fortnight from my JSA.For one,it costs upwards of £70 (what my vet charges) to put a small cat to sleep, then the are disposal/cremation fees & I would never have put Orbit down unless he was suffering.0 -

I find it totally unacceptable that people have pets they can not afford. I moved into my own flat with my small dog. I only got a small dog in the first place because they cost less to feed. He has an easy coat, So doesn't need salon visits, and had a healthy mother and father. I also knew, by being so small, he would fit in with my lifestyle however it changed. There was a time where all I could afford was plain bags of pasta - but I still kept up the £12 a month pet insurance and proper dog food (although budget from asda!).
I'm so fed up of people making quick decisions to get pets and not thinking of the long term commitment you have to make. If I go, he goes! If I can't afford to eat, I would make sure he did. I know why, he doesn't. I chose him, he didn't ask to be with me.
In regards to the comment from the lady at the call centre, she needs to be shot.
Don't even get me started on people who have children without planning how they will provide for them without sponging off the government!
Thing is if you have both children and pets and there genuinely isn't enough to feed both if someone loses their job or gets too ill to work it gets more complicated YOU might be fine eating plain pasta but Social Services get a bit upset if that's all you feed your kids !!!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I would just view this as attention seeking and dont let it upset you.Slimming World at target0

It's not that black and white unfortunately. We've had 2 terriers for years, and OH has worked every day since he was 16. When he was made redundant out of the blue 2 years ago we had no choice but to make sacrifices, and pet insurance for 2 dogs was unfortunately one of them.
Despite my boys never having a days illness in their lives within weeks of OH being made redundant the younger dog became ill. Fortunately for us we qualified for PDSA help and they treated him as best they could. OH found another job and we ceased the PDSA treatment but by then we had one old dog who would cost a lot to insure a month and one younger dog who was uninsurable due to being terminally ill.
With the best will in the world you just can't plan for situations like those. I owe the PDSA and regularly donate. They helped to give me 6 more months with my precious little Jack that otherwise I'd have struggled with.
What did annoy me at that time was the fact that we were in a situation beyond out control, we knew we had little money to spare. Yet day after day we sat in that PDSA waiting room watching people bring in 8 week old purebred dogs for treatment and injections. Those are the irresponsible ones, those who know they are going to be relying on PDSA treatment and still go out and buy themselves a puppy.0 -

Oh, if only more pet owners were like you. :TWe don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
I am disgusted by that comment!! People in debt may choose to spend money they don't have on drink...drugs....shopping...whatever it's their choice.
I'm in debt but I would never give my cat up. At the end of the day as long as I'm able to feed him and look with his trips to the vets etc and pay his insurance then what's the problem. He costs me less a day than if I were to smoke! bloody cheek of that person with that comment!A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."0 -
Well, I'm in a ton of debt if you count the mortgage and the student loan, guess I should just off the dogs now so I can start making overpayments...
I feel genuinely sorry for people who can't understand the bond between pet and owner and the true love you can feel for an animal. Just remember that its her loss she'll never know that.0 -
Stupid bint has probably shot herself in the foot with that comment, it might just go down on her record and won't do her any favours if and when she could be up for promotion. My dogs are part of my family and there is no way I would let anything happen to them if money was tight.0
