You did say leather kickers but like everyone else I read it as knickers and wondered what type of school uniform you were looking for :rotfl:. More my dirty mind than anything else.

Are Kickers considered to be the best, long wearing school shoe? DS is starting reception in Sept so I'm a bit clueless on all this uniform malarky, not had any info from his school on what pieces he will need but I assume I'll be on track with black school shoes??

He has been a size 11 for the past 12months surprisingly (thankfully says my wallet) but is due to go up a size I think, I should be okay to get a size 12 and have it last at least 6mths... I hope.

I would get them fitted properly, rather than buy them unseen over the net. At least until you are sure of the fit quality. He will be wearing them all day at school, after all.

+1, the kids spend around 35 hours a week in these shoes, each new pair needs to be properly fitted IMO.

Sainsbury's school clothing is very good.

Purple seems to be incredibly popular with schools at the moment. I guess the specialist suppliers like it because the supermarkets don't stock it.

But the government did advise schools not to pick colours that are not widely available and that must include purple.

I bought some in the sale last year. The twins had velcro ones, and the velcro would not stay done up from day one. My older son had laces, but wore down through the sole within a couple of months.

I replaced the twins with clarks and I think they've had them nearly a year now! I had to superglue the front of one of them recently, but they look absolutely fine and the soles are still going very strong!

Don't buy of the internet wait until August and go and get him fitted properley. Clarks and John lewis quite often have ones that are half price or better. You need to remember that different makes are quite often sized differently.

Another vote for Clarks here. I had Kickers from TK Maxx for DS2 last year. fitted perfectly but lasted less than a half term. Absolute rubbish. He's still in the replacement Clarks now. lesson learnt!

My daughter goes through loads of shoes. Worse is she only wears them to, from and at lunch in school as they wear indoor shoes in the classrooms.

Her kickers are great and a bit of polish and they look like new. Prior to these she went through 2 pairs of clarks and a pair from M&S.
