I got a really good pair of coated leather skool shoes from Javari last year for less than 8 quid and they lasted him the whole year!!
Got the added expense of wanting to buy his school coat this year as his Hunter type jacket although fashionable isn't warm enough for him so I'd like to get him something warm , yet fashionable too!
I loved this one at a knockout price from last year I think , but OOS of course!! ; http://www.bhs.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=34096&storeId=13077&productId=5183424&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=jeans&pageSize=40
Just want a basic padded jacket , doesn't have to be duck down or anything , which washes well and does the job and for a bargain price too! ... I don't want much do I for a live-in-hope budget of £8 for leather school shoes again plus £8 for a winter jacket! lol0 -
Have just had a look at my old posts from last year & it seems Javari & Shoezone do some good leather school shoes which they REDUCE in price AROUND 30th August!!!
So I have decided to actually 'hang about' this year as it seemed to PAY OFF last year when I left it a bit late!!
Makes sense though , there may be limited choice and a bit risky but there was quite ALOT of choice left last year & a half price jacket or 8 quid quality coated leather school shoes will be worth waiting for as they must obviously reduce to CLEAR around the end of August!0 -

Try Next for a padded winter coat. I bought one last year for son number one and it was plenty warm enough and reasonably priced as well as being a brand he was happy to wear. Being an evil and cruel mother I make my children walk to school - it's 0.7 of a mile and takes 15 minutes at most. They need a warm coat and shoes that don't leak. While they moan and groan that their friends are getting out of a warm car on a double yellow outside school they have no thought for poor, old me walking home again so twice as long. The school run is lethal in winter with the odd crash and queues to get near in the snow so it's safer for them to walk. I'm my day you walked rain or shine in shoes held together with string blah blah dodging dinosaurs blah blah etc;)

We had some great coat bargains from dare2be, I think it must have been two years ago, lovely warm ski jackets, the children have worn themover the winter and in all this rain etc, run around in the playground in them, down the park and they all still look brand new!0

I bought Geox shoes for my 5 year old girl and they have been brilliant, they were trainer style as I find her foot bulges out of the usual half moon cut out style ALL girl shoe manufacturers stick to. I haven't found anything like them yet for next term.0

George at Asda have padded coats for £10 http://direct.asda.com/george/older-boys-coats-jackets/padded-hooded-jacket-black/GEM260125,default,pd.html
Hope this helps!0 -
Tesco had padded coats as part of their uniform bundles last year or maybe it was the year before. Think it was £20 and that got you socks, polos, coat, shoes and trousers/skirts.
Also check your local charity shops as you can often find coats and uniform bargains in there.Kyle 03.04.04
