I'm guessing that at this time of year it will be fine. However it is just a guess because there are lots of variables. eg is your kitchen heated or cool? As it was uncovered were there any flies about that may have contaminated it?

What you can do is look at it...if it looks ok then sniff it...if it smells ok then taste a tiny bit...if it tastes ok then cook it until piping hot. Only you can really make the decision whether or not to eat it.

Once you've had more advice I'll add this to our food safety questions and answers thread.

I'm normally very fussy, but to be honest, I would eat it, dont just heat it to eatable heat though, bring to the boll slowly and let it 'roll' for a few minutes..........

    Enjoy............
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

i leave out food all the time and havent died yet................i usually plop it into microwave and close the door if no room in fridge, but everyone is different as i have worked in kitchens i would prob get my head chopped off for even contemplating this. just heat it up thoroughly.

  • Thanks guys. It had a lid on it so no flies can have got to it.

It was just the left out business - only just started eating things like kidneys and livers again so a little outside my normal knowledge zone on things

Thanks again - top evening meal coming up then!!!

If your house is like mine at the moment, I'd be putting it in to the fridge to keep warm! Unless you have the heating on all night to sub-tropical temperatures I would think its OK at this time of year. Mid-summer might be a bit different though ;-)

i'd eat it, but make sure it's been heated very thoroughly.

had a sausage sandwich today for lunch and the sausages had been out all night.

    whereabouts are you?

If convenient, if you dont eat it , i will. Il'll be round for lunch tomorrow with a couple of cans of Murphys.

The golden rules of food...ignore use by dates, use your sense and your senses. waste nothing.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

If i'd have known Murphys was on the cards i'd have got a fish supper for the Mrs!!!!!

If it was in my kitchen, I'd eat it. As others have said, just make sure it's really very hot to kill off any nasties.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
