Hi, my first post (252) explains about me receiving free unprepared tripe (i.e. not supermarket bleached tripe).

After preparing it, some looked white whilst other bits have a green tinge, most likely from the animals diet. Would you consume these pieces too? If so, without hesitation or with further cleaning?

dannie, I know you have posted in the Quick Question thread as it is indeed a quick question, but I find that new questions seem to get missed when they are posted directly in here. Its happened to me before :o

Its best to start your own thread and then let the BG's merge it in with this one.

The post after yours up above was once its own thread, I'm sure.

HTH and hope you didn't mind me saying.

Oh and edited to add, I can't help with the tripe I'm afraid, never bought any.

    Hi dannie,

I saw your post and didn't reply because I can't even tolerate the smell of tripe cooking, so I couldn't help. My Dad loves it though!

Either do as Linda has suggested above or try posting on this thread to see if anyone can help:

Pink. Thanks for your idea but I'll leave things for now as I've used up all the tripe. Probably wont be getting anymore for free.

_pale__pale__pale_ I've never tasted anything worse than tripe ... the thought of consuming it again at all makes me shiver, let alone when it may or may not be safe! Ew, ew, ew (but I hope you enjoy it, and live to tell the tale!).

    Hi snowleopard61,

The taste wasn't so bad; maybe a bit bland, chewy at times although similar to chicken. Obtaining it in the form I received it was (emotionally) offputting plus a lot of research and preparation needed.
  • I wonder if any of you wonderful people can help me....... ;)

Cooked some steak and kindey stew yesterday (which was lovely). Made double to have tonight but ive left the dish out all night when i was meant to just leave it to cool and then put it into the fridge.

So it's been left out, uncovered for 24 hours.

    Safe to eat? Thoughts?

    Cheers one and all :D
