Kodak one played ok, this one doesn't - I suggest the Kodak one wasn't HD and your machine just can't handle rendering HD from AVCHD in real-time?

Transfer the material the the hard drive and play it using Media Player Classic Home Cinema, as suggested on post #11.

Patience, grasshopper.

If the laptop can't play it in its current state you may yet be able to turn it into something which requires less oomph. The process of conversion however can take a very long time.

Was there any software supplied with the camera?

I think i may have "ukin" cracked it with your help, got media player classic, had to download directex something, vid run through this is perfec!
