Kodak one played ok, this one doesn't - I suggest the Kodak one wasn't HD and your machine just can't handle rendering HD from AVCHD in real-time?0

If the laptop can't play it in its current state you may yet be able to turn it into something which requires less oomph. The process of conversion however can take a very long time.
