    Ah I see!

Just looked at the website and there are some things going on locally, just a bit too expensive for me at the moment.

Bookmarked it though ready for when I am feeling flush :)

Today i spent the day with a friend i met on mse. We had lots of fun and laughed all day. I think communicating longterm in any form helps keep those habits of not isolating oneself.

I would LOVE to find a friend to have a dog walk and a giggle with a couple of times a week. As would my dogs, who love to be social. Where we walk most often people are often friendly but not yet met any one who ha made me want to say...'hey lets do this again, its been fun chatting and the dogs have enjoyed it' . Which is a shame. It would be great fun to meet simeone through the dogs who you want to giggle and chat about things other than them.

I have definitely learnt my lesson!!

Yeah the relationship is not the best for maintaining friendships. He gets very jealous and stopped me seeing any of my male friends (I can sort of understand this though). I also struggle to find time to see female friends as he gets 'offended' if I don't want to spend every free minute with him, although it is fine for him to see his friends!

I think when contacting old friends I am going to start very slowly and just say hello and ask how they are etc. I don't want to say too much to begin with, just let it develop naturally again. I also don't want it to seem needy, like you say.

I have lost touch with people gradually over the years, although mostly within the last year.

I really do need to start getting out and doing things on my own though to build my confidence.

Just applied for a free trial at a kickboxing class, and am going through local dog rescues to see what volunteering posts they have. Just actually got to go through with it and do it now! ;)

Did any of these friends warn you about this controling personality

Thats a way back in, you told me his would end badly, also tell them to be more persitant next time.

I'm on a few dog forums and have arranged a few group walks - good way to meet other people. The BIGGSD forum could be a good place as they arrange group walks nationwide and, as the name suggests, there are lots of GSDs (though not exclusively the one breed). I'm also on Dogpages and Dogsey. Dogsey has a "walks" section where members often arrange walks, and if you become a sponsor member on Dogpages, you have access to their "Member lounge" which has a very chilled, friendly atmosphere - quite a few members have gone on to meet up offline regularly.

No they didn't because I was too embarrassed to say anything, and lost touch with them pretty quickly anyway!
