Well maybe someone should tell DVLA that.
Twice I have called them up to query if I should change my address, both times I was told no I didn't need to, they specifically said that as long as my license address was one I could be contacted at then it was fine. The first time was in 2008 when querying if I needed a address change due to moving to uni halls - answer no parents address was fine, second last year due to moving about due to temporary work, told as long as I would still receive mail from the address I had put down there was no need to change it.
It makes perfect sense that for someone with one permanent address that that should be used for DVLA and I can see DVLA having an issue if you were using an address you had moved out from years ago. But many people in this country do not have such simple lives.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

TrickWicky where does it say your current address?0 -

You are wrong, the rules are that the address on a driving licence needs to be a GB home address at which you can be contacted.
It may or may not be where you actually live.

Dunno about you but I don't take anything they say over the phone seriously at all. DVLA are known for being Deviantly Vexatious Little A***holes.Sgt_Pepper wrote: »TrickWicky where does it say your current address?
Home = where you live. You know that. Are you seriously saying that you would call Home somewhere else other than where you live?
From dictionary.com:a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household.
Seriously Pep, stop posting tripe.Rover_Driver wrote: »You are wrong, the rules are that the address on a driving licence needs to be a GB home address at which you can be contacted.

So what else would you call home then? - Somewhere you lived 5 years ago where you still pick up post once every 6 months? Your mate Pete down in the local pub?
I can't help but wonder what you say at the end of a days work? - "See you tomorrow guys I'm off to my secondary sleeping premisis" ? :rotfl:

I’ve still got my mums address on mine, and I moved out over 11yrs ago. It was renewed in October 2009 to the same address, mainly as it’s easier.
The car is registered to my company and my home address is where it’s ‘normally kept overnight’ (even be it on the same street). We live 5 mins from each other, and see each other 3/4 evenings a week.....Surely that’s often enough for it not to matter to anyone?
The DVLA spam my letterbox often enough, so it’s obvious that they know I live at 32 *** rd, not 52 *** rd?!

I've had DVLA "spam" through the post to my current address. They know where I live, basically.CKhalvashi wrote: »I’ve still got my mums address on mine, and I moved out over 11yrs ago.

Interesting that, two different people both admitting to intentionally using old addresses for years on end and both being sent DVLA spam.
Neither myself or my partner get any DVLA spam and we both use the correct home address on our licences.
Kind of makes you wonder why you peeps with the wrong addresses are being sent spam doesn't it? :eek:0 -

It has to be a home address (not a P.O. box) at which you can be contacted, it doesn't have to be the licence holder's own home address.0 -
What a stupid statement.0

Another long out of date licence address user here....in my experience the spam comes with car related stuff as in "your tax is about to run out and by the way would you like to buy a personalised number plate?"
On the driving licence front, I don't remember getting any spam to Dad's address apart from something about photocard licences when they were introduced years ago. I declined the [STRIKE]identity card[/STRIKE] photo licence (another reason not to update the address) and don't expect to hear anything further from them until I get the reminder my licence is going to expire but that won't be for 15 or 20 years.0
