Vodafone getting worse?

Belnahua, as soon as I read your message I thought...I wonder if you live in the East Midlands. It appears you do.
3G signal is particularly bad round these parts. I have a company phone and we used to be on O2 which is great round here but now we've switched to Voda and I'm always struggling.
I find I get a decent signal in the city but outside of large town/cities it really struggles.
Things have got so bad that I've taken to carrying around a t-mobile SIM with 6 months of free Internet on it so I can swap if needed.
The rest of my family refuse to use Vodafone because of it.0 -
I've been using Vodafone for nearly 2 years with mainly iPhones and now a HTC in both Yorkshire and London and my signals been generally great :-)
I also use giffgaff with the o2 signal and that seems to be very similar!0 -

I would consider O2, as their service (Broadband wise) is great, but unfortunately they don't have a 3g transmitter in this area, so they have to be ruled out for now.
I know our local transmitter for Voda went off for 3-4 weeks, blaming metal theft - as if! If it was metal theft, then how come it (a) worked occasionally for 5-10 mins now and again, and (b) took 4 weeks to fix? When O2, THREE, T-Mobile and Orange are on the same mast, and they were all ok?
It's more the 3-4 weeks to fix. Don't mobile operators run mobile units for such long term emergencies? No we'll just hand out Sure Signals free!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
Central london good signal dont make me laugh....
Voda since febuary has been dropping left right and centre in N8 area of london and from research online it reacheas out as far as HA8 areas (edge of london Middx). It has been like this since febuary, I have even been told four times over the last four months that it is a tower issue, I asked the lady on the phone simply so you can not fix it in four months and her reply was we will look at it and how much signal you lost and refund you...
Well its a bit late for that 4 months of signal drops hardly any data usage and broken promises is enough for me to give up the chase and get out of my contract, I have spoken to my companies legal team who have told me 1 month maybe 2 can be ignored as you have to give the company a chance to fix the issue, but 4 is a joke.
being a journalist it makes me laugh while doing the research on this that vodas biggest reply to issues are to try to palm you over a sure signal device which piggy banks your broadband to give you good signal, THIS IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE DO NOT ACCEPT IT. you paid for a service that you are not getting and to fix it vodafone want to piggy bank on your broadband to give you a signal...
To put it into perspective lets look at it like this..... hey we want you to pay for your service to use vodafone, but then we want to use your broadband that you pay for to provide you with this service... so hang on your offering to fix my service i pay you for by using something i pay for !!!!!! lol reality check!!!! Its a big con, Just think about it.
Pay us for a service that needs a service you pay for to work lol... also knowing about a service signal problem for 4 months and not fixing it is not on... time to phone voda again and pull out of my contracts...0 -

Don't waste your time phoning them, write a letter and send an email to the Chief Executive, it's the only way to get things done with Vodafone.
This might be of interest to you;11 Ending this agreement
a Either you or we may end this agreement by giving the other 30 days’ notice in writing. Your notice must include your mobile number and your signature or appropriate security details. You must pay the charges during the notice period.
b You may end this agreement by writing to us if:
• we don’t do something fundamental that we should have done under this agreement (for example, if there is a complete failure of the network for seven days in a row due to something we have done), within seven days of you asking us in writing;
• we tell you that there will be an increase in the line-rental charge (unless we increase line rental because of a rise in VAT) by more than the increase in the retail price index (worked out as a percentage) since the last line-rental increase and you write to us before the increase applies;
• we increase your charges in the UK which has the effect of increasing your total charges (based on your usage in any of the previous three months) by more than 10% and you write to us before the increase applies; or
• we change this agreement to your significant disadvantage including changing or withdrawing services (we will tell you if this is the case) and you write to us within one month of us telling you about the change. This does not apply if the change or withdrawal relates to services which you can cancel without us ending this agreement.

Wait I am having the same issue - i have not been able to make or take calls (including voicemail) in my town since 25 May. I have made countless calls to Vodafone about this (i run my business from home and its had disastrous consequences) and other than a £20 refund they offer no help.
The call centre (in Egypt!!) are friendly but hopeless and I am really stressed as a result of it all. I finally wrote them a letter on Monday insisting that a UK based member of customer service contacts me otherwise i am going to take my business elsewhere. I will not be wanting to pay the 'fine' either as they cannot provide the service they are obliged to. Not just in my home but the entire village! I don't think the signal booster is a solution because it only works at home.
So far they have not been in contact with me (mind you if they rang my mobile i wouldn't know about it because I have no signal!!) and I am going to give them the rest of the week before serving 30 days notice and contacting the ombudsman.
Grrrr - I used to highly recommend Vodafone to friends until all of this....0 -
See my post above, Vodafone have a clause that says they will credit your account if the network isn't working:10 Credits if there is a failure of the service
a If we have to maintain our network or if there is a technical fault on our network that means you can’t use all our services for three days in a row, we’ll credit you for the line-rental charge for the period the service was not available.0 -

your post was really helpful - i am going to write to them again this weekend and will also consider the 30 day notice thing. I did ask them in my letter this week to refund me all of my line rental since 25 May but so far I have heard nothing back. Will give them a week then write again!0 -
Hi jungle jane,
I appreciate how frustrating this must be, especially if you have had no service at all from the 25th May.
If you could drop me an email to the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject, I will be happy to look into this further for you.
Kind regards,
Heidi
